In a meeting of quad’s foreign ministers in Washington, USA, condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. Foreign ministers of the four member countries involved in this meeting of Quad called the incident condemnable.
A joint statement by Quad’s foreign ministers said that all types of terrorism and violence, including cross -border terrorism, were included. We condemn all its formats and express our commitment to cooperation in dealing with terrorism. We strongly condemn the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, 2025, killing 25 Indian citizens and a Nepali citizen and many were injured.
The statement said that we express our deep condolences to the families of the victims and wish all the injured to be quick and fully healthy. We demand the criminals, organizers and financiers of this condemnable act to be brought into the dock without any delay and called upon all the UN member countries to actively cooperate with all concerned officials in this regard as per their obligations under the International Law and respective United Nations Security Council proposals.
A joint statement by Quad’s foreign ministers said that we, US Foreign Minister and Foreign Ministers of Australia, India and Japan met in Washington on 1 July. During this time we expressed our commitment to the more open Indo Pacific sector. We express our commitment to protect law, sovereignty and regional integrity.
The statement said that as four major maritime powers in Indo Pacific, we believe that peace and stability in the maritime are the basis of safety and prosperity of the region. We are committed to an area where all countries are free from pressure and we strongly oppose any unilateral action that tries to change the status quo by force or pressure.
The joint statement said that we discussed opportunities and challenges in the Indo Pacific sector and considering how the quad’s forces and resources can be used to promote peace, security and prosperity in association with regional partners. To ensure the long -term impact of the quad, we are happy today announcing a new ambitious and strong agenda, whose focus is on four major areas. These include marine and international security, economic prosperity and safety, important and new technology and humanitarian aid and emergency assistance. Under this, we will further enhance the capacity of the quad to effectively use our resources to solve the most important challenges of the region.
Let me tell you that earlier in the meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh gave a big statement about the Pahalgam attack. He had said that we have given a befitting reply to that attack. Whenever we further there is a terrorist attack on our land, India will give a suitable reply to it.
