Rajnath Singh spoke to Hegseth on the phone on Tuesday evening (July 1, 2025). In the press release released at 8.16 minutes last night, it was told that the Defense Minister had discussed with Hegseth to spread Operation Sindoor, Pakistan for a long time spreading border terrorism and sheltering global terrorists. According to the Ministry of Defense, Rajnath Singh told the US Defense Secretary that during Operation Sindoor, India’s action was extremely balanced, non-esklelette and proportionate.
The statement changed after 14 minutes
Just 14 minutes later, at 8.30, the Department of Public Relations (DPR) of the Ministry of Defense released the revised press release which was very flat. In the second statement, all issues including pre-MP strike were removed from Operation Sindoor to Pakistan and terrorists.
India is angry with the way US President Donald Trump has tried to take credit for the ceasefire between India and Pakistan since Operation Sindoor. India has made it clear that military conflict has been stopped on Pakistan’s appeal. Trump had no role in ceasefire.
Why is India angry with Trump administration?
India is also angry that the Trump administration has weighed a terrorist-nation (Pakistan) and terrorism-suffering country (India) in the same scales. According to the second press release, Rajnath praised Hegseth for supporting India against terrorism. In such a situation, everyone is surprised by confusion on the statement issued from Rajnath Singh and US Defense Secretary about the phone-call. However, in both press releases, there is talk of increasing defense cooperation between India and the US, exercise, military exchange and industry cooperation.
In January this year, Hegseth took over as the Defense Secretary of America. In the last seven months, there has been a phone conversation between Rajnath and Hegseth. In the phone call on Tuesday, Rajnath expressed the possibility of meeting Hegseth soon.
