Johran Mamdani, a Democratic candidate for the post of New York City Mayor, is not ready to retreat. In a statement on social media platform X, Mammadani sharply criticized US President Donald Trump, saying that Trump had directly attacked his citizenship and fundamental rights.
‘I will not let Ice spread terror in the city’
Mammadani wrote, ‘The President of America has threatened to arrest me, snatch my citizenship, put me in the detention camp and to exist from the country. This is not because I have broken any law, but because I will not let Ice (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) spread terror in our city.
Mammadani further said, ‘Trump’s statement is not only an attack on democracy, it is an attempt to give a message to every New Yorch resident who refuses to live in secret: If you say, they will follow you.’
‘We will not back down’
Mamdani said, ‘We will not back down.’ He said that ‘We will not accept this intimidation politics.’
Palestinian support made with support
Mammadani made an identity across the country through his statements in support of Palestine and now surprised everyone by defeating former Governor Andrew Kuomo in the Democratic Primary election for the post of New York City Mayor. His victory in the counting of votes on Tuesday was confirmed and now he is moving towards the general election.
Trump threatened
Talking to reporters, President Trump had directly warned Mammadani. He said, ‘If he stops ICE from arresting illegal migrants, we will have to arrest them. We do not want a communist in the country, but if there is any, I will keep a strong monitoring on the country.
