Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday sent the first batch of more than 5,880 Amarnath pilgrims from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu amid multiple security cordons. A batch of 5,892 pilgrims, including 1,115 women, 31 children and 16 transgenders, left from the base camp at 4.30 am to attend the annual Amarnath pilgrimage. Officials said that more than 3.31 lakh devotees have registered for this year’s Amarnath Yatra so far. (PTI)
