In the Abhijeet Sarkar murder case, the CBI filed a second supplementary charge sheet on 30 June 2025. In this charge sheet, 18 new people have been accused, including one sitting MLA and two counselors. This charge sheet was filed in the Sealdah Court of Kolkata, where the court has taken cognizance of the case against all the accused.
The CBI registered this case on 25 August 2021. When he took over the FIR of Narkeldanga police station. The FIR was registered on 2 May 2021 and the matter is related to the violence after the assembly elections in West Bengal. Abhijeet Sarkar was killed during this violence.
Chargesheet was lodged against 15 people
Initially, the state police was investigating the matter. The Kolkata Police’s Homoid Squad filed a charge sheet against 15 accused on 6 August 2021. After this, the CBI filed the first supplementary charge sheet on 30 September 2021, in which a total of 20 people were made accused. These included 15 accused, on whom the first state police had filed a charge sheet.

The CBI says that the investigation of the case is still going on. The names of the three big faces who have been named in this new CBI charge sheet are-
01. Paresh Pal, MLA (Beliaghata Assembly Constituen)
02. Swapan Samaddar (Councilor/Coordinator, Ward 58)
03. Papiya Ghosh (Councilor, Ward No. 30)
