The West Bengal Bar Council on Wednesday canceled the membership of Manjlan Mishra, the main accused in the Kolkata gang rape case and removed his name from the list of lawyers.
Bar Council Chairman Ashok Deb said that in a special general meeting, it was decided that the names of Mishra should be removed from the list of Bar Council due to allegations of such serious and inhuman offense.
At the same time, the police said that the three accused are making separate statements so that the investigation can be wandered. An official said that all three are law students, they get some legal moves.
At the same time, the police are trying to find out who, Jab Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee, who met or who were in contact with whom, a few hours before their arrest.
Police questioned the Vice Principal of Law College twice
The police have also questioned the college’s Vice-Principal Dr. Nayana Chatterjee twice. Manoja Mishra spoke to him on the phone on the morning of 26 June. On Wednesday, the police also questioned 16 people who were present in the college campus at the time of the incident.
The police have found a stain on a sheet seized from the security guard’s room, and it is being investigated whether he had any connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, the Detective Department (DD) of Kolkata Police has taken the investigation into the case on Wednesday. Till now the SIT was investigating.
Manjit’s batchmate bid- he stopped going to college for fear
A girl, who was a batchmade of Manjit, has told about her terror in college. According to the girl, after returning to college, Manjit started controlling everything. He too had stopped going to college to avoid Manjit.
Actually, Manjit completed graduation from the college in 2022. He started a job on Adhoc in 2024 later in 2024. According to media reports, the admission rate in the college was reduced at that time. Not only this, some girls told that he used to have fear in Manojj’s presence.
He used to take pictures in the campus, post in the group. Used to propose every other girl. The accused had the status of deity between the students and the administration. He had access to every document of the campus. Every student had details, phone numbers and addresses.
At the same time, West Bengal Women’s Commission Chairman Leena Gangopadhyay said on Wednesday that the student is very shocked and needs more counseling.
Police custody of three accused in the case has been extended till 8 July. The custody of the college security guard Pinaki Banerjee has also extended till July 4.
Manjit was hiring due to lack of staff
Nayana Chatterjee, Vice Principal of Law College, had said that the main accused Manjit Mishra was appointed as a temporary faculty member a few months ago. Hilling was done due to lack of permanent staff.
Chatterjee said that the college administration came to know about the incident through the media. The victim student or anyone else did not complain to the college administration about the incident.
He said that the police had sought permission to enter the campus a day after the incident. The security guard was also asked not to tell about this. Police have sealed two rooms of the ground floor. The Vice Principal has also obeyed the guards not to do duty properly.
Nail marks on the body of main accused Manojit
Police investigation has revealed that Manojit has nail marks on his body, which shows that the victim tried to save herself. As part of the investigation, the police searched the mobile call records of the three accused. It was found that Manjit had called Dr. Nayana Chatterjee, Vice Principal of the college the next morning of the incident. The police then questioned the Vice Principal twice.
Meanwhile, South Kolkata Law College took disciplinary action and finished the job of Manjit Mishra and suspended both the students from the college. In addition, the college administration has also recommended the cancellation of Mishra’s membership from the Bar Council, as it is a practice advocate.

Police recovered CCTV footage from medical store
The police have also seized CCTV footage of the medical store from where accused Jab Ahmed bought an inhaler for Victim.
Victim had told in his complaint that he had pleaded with the accused to take the hospital, but when he did not agree, he asked to bring the inhaler. Jab then ordered the inhaler, after which the accused continued to rape her.
Police said that digital evidence collected from the scene, medical examination reports and other evidence also match the story of Victim.

Samples of the three accused in the Kolkata gang rape case have been taken. Fluids, urine and hair samples of Manjit Mishra, Pramit Mukherjee and Zaid Ahmed were taken on June 30 at the medical college. This process lasted for about eight hours.
The police said on the investigation, ‘The three accused had been tracking the victim for several days. Mishra had targeted the victim from the very first day of enrolling in college. The incident was done after planning.
The police have also warned that action will be taken if the victim’s identity is revealed. On the other hand, the Law College has suspended the main accused of gangrape and two other accused. Alipur court has extended police custody of the three till 8 July.
Petition filed to conduct CBI investigation of gang rape
A PIL was filed on Monday in the Calcutta High Court for CBI investigation of Kolkata gang rape. In this, the CBI has been requested to direct the primary investigation of the case and submit the report to the court.
This demand has been made due to the main accused being associated with the state’s ruling party TMC. The petition also demanded compensation to the victim and deployment of civil volunteers for the safety of girls at the Government Education Institute.
Some other petitions filed earlier have demanded an inquiry into the case under the supervision of the court. These petitions may be heard at the end of this week.

CCTV and medical report confirmed gang rape The CCTV of the college has about 7 hours footage from 3:30 pm to 10:50 pm on June 25. An investigating officer said that the incident of forcibly taking the victim student in the guard room in CCTV has been captured. This confirms the allegations made in the written complaint of the student.
On June 28, the medical report of the victim student was also confirmed the rape. According to the police, there have been marks of forcing the victim, cutting the body and scratching from the nail. He has also confirmed the assault.
The main accused is the case of gang rape … Chief police prosecutor Sorin Ghoshal said that according to the Supreme Court’s decision, all the persons who help in rape should be held responsible. In this case, two other persons helped in rape. Because of this it is a case of gang rape.

Health services were stalled in Bengal for more than 2 months.
