Ghana President Mahama Gave Grand Welcome to PM Modi Gun 21 Gun Salute With Guard of Honor

PM modi ghana visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the African country Ghana on Wednesday (July 3, 2025) in the first phase of foreign trip to 5 countries. This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister after 30 years. He was warmly welcomed by Ghana President John Droni Mahama at the airport of the capital Akra. On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi was given 21 cannon salute with the Guard of Honor.

The Prime Minister’s visit is important towards strengthening India’s strategic partnership with both ends of Global South and Atlantic. Apart from this foreign tour, PM Modi will also visit Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil and Namibia.

‘It is a matter of honor to address Ghana’s Parliament’
In a statement issued before the tour, PM Modi said that he is traveling to Ghana on July 2-3 on the invitation of President Mahama. He described Ghana as an important partner of Global South who plays an important role in the Economic Community of African Union and West African states. The PM hoped that this visit would further strengthen the India-Ghana’s relations in the fields of investment, energy, health, security and development cooperation. He also said that it would be an honor for him to address Ghana’s Parliament.

‘180 years ago Indians reached Trinidad and Tobago for the first time’
After this, on July 3-4, PM Modi will visit Trinidad and Tobago. He described this island country as a carrier of deep historical, cultural and public relations based relations with India. The Prime Minister said that he would meet President Christine Carla Kangalu and Prime Minister Kamla Parsad Bisacer. PM Modi said, “The Indians reached Trinidad and Tobago for the first time 180 years ago. This tour is an opportunity to revive our cultural and family bonds.”

After Trinidad, PM Modi will go to Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires, which will be the first official visit of an Indian Prime Minister in the last 57 years. He described Argentina as a major economic partner of India in Latin America and a close aide in the G20.

What did PM Modi say about BRICS?
Prime Minister Modi will participate in the BRICS summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 6-7 July. He said, “India considers BRICS a major platform for emerging economies as a founding member. We are working together for multi -polar, democratic and equitable global system.”

After the BRICS summit, Prime Minister Modi will visit Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, which will be the first state visit of an Indian Prime Minister in about 60 years. He called it a chance to deepen relations with Brazil and share ideas on global South issues with President Lula Da Silva. The last stop for PM Modi’s visit to 5 countries will be Namibia, which Prime Minister Modi has described as a reliable and strategic partner.
