A petition was filed by Dabur on the advertisement of Patanjali Chyawanprash. Dabur says that it is misleading customers.
The Delhi High Court on Thursday directed Patanjali not to show any negative or misleading advertisements against Dabur Chyawanprash. This order was given by Justice Meini Pushkarna after hearing the petition filed by Dabur.
Dabur argued in the court that such advertisements not only defame their products, but also mislead consumers. He said that Chyawanprash is a traditional Ayurvedic medicine, which has to be made as per the rules under the drugs and cosmetic act. In such a situation, it is wrong, misleading and harmful to call other brands normal.
Now the next hearing of this case will be held on 14 July. At present, the advertisement of Patanjali Chyawanprash has been banned. In the case, senior advocate Sandeep Sethi practiced on behalf of Dabur, while senior advocates Rajiv Nair and Jayant Mehta were appeared on behalf of Patanjali. Sandeep Sethi said,
Patanjali is damaging the image of the product by describing his Chyawanprash product as “normal” and Ayurveda tradition in its advertisement. In this advertisement, Swami Ramdev himself is seen saying that “those who do not know Ayurveda and Vedas, how can they make traditional Chyawanprash?”
In this advertisement issued by Patanjali, Dabur has filed a petition regarding the statement of Baba Ramdev.
Dabur’s charge- Patanjali is spoiling the image of his product
Dabur had alleged that Patanjali is spoiling the product’s image by describing his Chyawanprash product as “normal” and Ayurveda tradition in his advertisement. In this advertisement, Swami Ramdev himself is seen saying that “those who do not know Ayurveda and Vedas, how can they make traditional Chyawanprash?”
Apart from this, Dabur said that the advertisement has been called a simple target on Dabur’s product because Dabur describes his Chyawanprash as “40+ made of herbs” and holds more than 60% share in this market.
Dabur said- SC cases for controversial advertisements on Patanjali
Dabur also said that Patanjali’s advertisement has also indicated that the products of other brands may threaten health, which is the issue of public safety. Dabur argued that Patanjali has already been engaged in contempt cases in the Supreme Court for such controversial advertisements, which makes it clear that he does this again and again.
Ramdev was first trapped in a syrup controversy
On 3 April, Ramdev launched Patanjali Sharbat. During this time, the sorbet was commented.
Baba Ramdev launched Patanjali’s syrup on 3 April. He said on the social media platform x that a company makes syrup. The money that is received from it makes madrasas and mosques. Baba Ramdev had said that just as love jihad and vote jihad is going on, so sherbat jihad is also going on.
Against this, Ruh Afja Sharbat maker Hamdard filed a petition in the Delhi High Court. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi argued on behalf of the company. Rohatgi said that this is an attack on the name of religion.
High court said- Ramdev’s statement on sorbet is not forgiven
The Delhi High Court expressed displeasure over the video. Justice Amit Bansal said that this statement is not worthy. This shook the inter -soul of the court.
After the court rebuke, Patanjali founder Ramdev said that we will remove all such videos in which religious comments have been made. The court has also ordered Ramdev to file affidavits.
