A major scam has come to light on the process of investigating and recognizing private medical colleges in the country. Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has 35 accused from 7 states including UP, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan including Rawatpura Government Medical College in Nawa Raipur

These include Union Ministry of Health and National Medical Commission (NMC) officials, doctors, officers of private medical colleges and brokers who have done the deal. At the same time, a doctor involved in bribery has been blacklisted by the National Medical Council NMC.

So far, 6 accused have been arrested in this case. 3 doctors are also among the arrested people. The CBI will interrogate them by 7 July. The case is related to disturbances in the inspection process of medical colleges, appointment of fake faculty, and manipulation in biometric records.

The CBI had received strong information that some officials of the Ministry of Health and NMC are making a mess with private medical colleges. These people helped the medical colleges to recognize the medical colleges in a fake way and also bribed from private medical colleges in lieu of making good reports in their favorite.

In this case, some officials of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi and NMC, along with representatives of private medical colleges are involved in corruption. It is alleged that the ministry officials leaked the Confidential Document and Sensitive Information and manipulated the inspection process of private colleges.

  • The CBI FIR states that Dr. Jeetu Lal Meena, who is a joint director in the National Health Authority, was given a huge bribe by Dr. Virendra Kumar. With this money, a Hanuman temple was built in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, which is said to be 75 lakhs. This money was given to the contractor Bhikalal through hawala.
  • Gayatri Medical College of Visakhapatnam was taken a bribe of 2.5 crore in lieu of approval from NMC, which was sent from Delhi Hawala channel.
  • Chandan Kumar, an officer of the Ministry of Health, gave the confidential information of the ministry to Registrar Mayur Rawal of Gitanjali University, Udaipur.
  • Mayur Rawal made R.K. of Tech-Infi Solutions Together with Randeep Nair, many colleges were informed about the investigation in advance, so that they too could make fake preparations.
  • In this case, Swaminarayan Institute of Medical Sciences (Gujarat), National Capital Region Institute of Medical Sciences (Meerut), and other colleges have fraudulently made the report in their favor.

CBI arrested 6 people

In the case of major corruption and bribery in the name of recognition of medical colleges across the country, the CBI took raids on more than 40 locations in Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh on 30 June. 6 accused, including 3 doctors, were arrested.

It is alleged that on June 30, a team of 4 members of the NMC Inspection Team reached the Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Nawa Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Atul Kumar Tiwari, director of SrimsR, offered money to the investigation team to make a report in the favor of the institution.

The offer was directly given to Dr. Manjappa, which is HOD of the Orthopedics Department in Mandya Institute of Medical Science Bangalore. Also, the NMC is the head of the investigation team. Dr. Manjappa Satish A. Instructed to collect Rs 55 lakh from hawala operator.

Doctor Chaitra and another member of his team also celebrated for this and told him that his commission will be delivered to Dr. Satish at his house. The entire deal was done on June 30.

The CBI had been trapping NMC and its people for a long time. After filing the case, a trap was laid in Bangalore to catch all the accused. A bribe amount of Rs 55 lakh was recovered from here. Out of the total amount of bribery, 16.62 lakh rupees have been recovered from Dr. Chaitra’s husband Ravindran and Rs 38.38 lakh from Dr. Manjappa’s aide Satish A.

1 July CBI arrested Dr. Manjappa, Dr. Chaitra, Dr. Ashok, Atul Kumar Tiwari from Raipur. At the same time, Satish A. from Bangalore. And Ravichandra K. He was also arrested and brought to Raipur. On July 2, everyone was produced in the Special Court of Raipur.

6 accused in CBI remand 5 days

In Raipur Special Court, the CBI sought a 5 -day remand of all the 6 accused. After hearing the argument of both the parties, the court has sent all the accused on CBI remand till 7 July. The CBI team will interrogate all the 6 accused, including 3 doctors of the NMC team, till 7 July.

All the accused will be questioned in the CBI office at Raipur VIP Road. During the remand, family members and lawyers will be able to meet them for half an hour daily.

CBI seized documents and digital evidence

CBI officials say that initial investigation has revealed that the accused were using several strategies to influence the inspection process. Several important documents and digital evidence have been seized from the accused.
