Karnataka asp narayan barmani vrs case: ASP Narayan Barmani applied for voluntary retirement (VRS) after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah allegedly humiliated at a public event in April this year in Belagavi, Karnataka. This development has now turned into a political earthquake. In fact, during the Congress rally in Belagavi on 28 April 2025, when Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was giving speeches from the stage, some activists of the BJP Mahila Morcha protested by showing black flags near the stage. The security of the forum was under the Asp Barmani. His staff immediately controlled the demonstration.
The CM angrily shouted from the stage and asked, “Who is SP here?” ASP Burmani immediately reached the stage to clarify. Then the CM raised his hand in anger as if he was going to slap, although he stopped himself. This entire incident was captured on camera and went viral on social media. Bermani wrote in his letter asking for VRS that he served uniforms for 31 years as his mother. He did not make any mistake that day, yet he was publicly humiliated by the Chief Minister. He was mentally broken after the incident. He said that the CM or any senior officer neither apologized nor gave any moral support. “When I wear uniforms, it seems that I am suffering from someone else’s mistake,” he wrote.
ASP Burmani’s statement
Barmani said that this insult is not only of him, but of every honest and serviceman officer and they are taking VRS against the behavior of the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, political war has started as if the political battle has started. JDS wrote on X that the officers are taking VRS, fed up with the Hitlershi of Siddaramaiah government. Raising hands on ASP Burmani on the stage from the CM became a topic of discussion in the whole country. This insult is unbearable. BJP MP Lahar Singh Siroya has demanded resignation from CM. Wave Singh said that Siddaramaiah, who talks about Lohiaism, is adopting a fascist policy. Those who cry for the constitution are themselves insulting public servants on the public platform. They should resign immediately. Seeing the matter growing there, Home Minister Dr. Ji Parmeshwar said that there is nothing like this. We have talked to the officer. They will be given new posting. There was no intention of insulting CM Siddaramaiah.

Congress leader Rizwan Arshad said that if ASP was so sad, then why did he not resign at the same time? The CM did not slap. This case is now raising serious questions about the future of administrative system, dignity of uniformed officers, and the future of officers working under political pressure. The case of ASP Barmani has now become a test of not only the honor of an officer, but has become a test of administrative morality and political decency in the state.
