Arsenic is a chemical element found naturally in rocks, soil and water. But its accumulation in the body can cause coma, heart, liver disease, diabetes and some types of cancer.

All samples of rice found inorganic arsenic which is the most poisonous form of metal. The surprising thing is that about one-third of these samples were of serials made from rice for children, with arsenic levels much higher than the fixed limit of FDA. Arsenic level in most American rice varieties was 28 times higher than the level of arsenic found in other grains.
Brown rice found more arsenic than white rice because it contains bran and sprouts in external layers than white rice, where metal accumulates. Among the varieties of rice under the investigation, the highest amount of arsenic was also found in Italian Arborio rice and white and brown rice in southeastern America. However, the lowest amount of arsenic was found in California’s white rice, Thailand’s Jasmine Rice and India’s Basmati rice.
