Who was salabega: There is no end to Lord Jagannath’s leela and folklore. Just as these stories are unlimited, the stories of their devotees are also countless. Lord Jagannath is so simple that his devotee can be anyone. This is also strengthened by a popular folklore, when the chariot of Mahaprabhu’s rath yatra stopped at the call of a devotee. The name of this great devotee of him was Salbeg.

In the streets of Puri, the name of Salbeg devotee is one of the great devotees. It is said that devotees are the tomb of Salbig on the Gundicha temple route from Puri temple. Mahaprabhu Jagannath’s chariot stops in front of his tomb. The story like this is prevalent among the people, its same form is being given here.

Once upon a time. The rath yatra started from the Jagannath temple. The whole sky was echoing with Jai Jagannath’s Jayaghosh. There was no place to keep sesame from Srimandir to Gundicha Dham. This scene of the rath yatra was made on seeing it. But what is this? The chariot moved forward some distance from the Shrimandir that suddenly came to one place and stopped. Everyone was surprised. Till now, this chariot was not moving further. A crowd of devotees thought he may have been weakened in pulling the rope. So he stressed and pulled the chariot again,

But neither the chariot shake from his place nor the journey proceeded. Now all the whispers started. Someone was accepting a miracle and some surprise. The most voices were that Prabhu Jagannath got angry? Instead of fear of punishment, the fear in faith becomes much larger. Devotees tried again and again and pulled the rope, but the chariot was not to move forward. It is said that in the meantime, an old lathi was hit by the crowd and came in front of the main chariot and he said to the devotees pulling the rope- I can try to pursue the chariot,

Just listen to me. The rope pulling once saw his old weak body, but there was some magic in his voice, which forced everyone to obey him.

The old man did not say anything. Just pointed to the front with the finger. There was a tomb in that direction. The old man whispered something in his ear- so the crowd shine in the eyes. Jai Jagannath once loudly came out loud, and after it came the voice, Jai Bhakta Salbeg. As soon as he said this, the chariot wheels spontaneously roamed and the rath yatra started growing with Jai Jagannath, Jai Salbeg’s Jai Ghosh.

In Puri, Odisha, this legend is very popular in the streets and the time of its existence is said to be of the Mughal period. This story has roamed abroad by joining Jagannath Rath Yatra. Every year millions of devotees of Jagannath reach Puri and witness the scene how a Muslim faith has been added to a Hindu-Sanatani tradition for about 500 years? Every year the chariot stops at the tomb of Salbeg Bhagat. Who is this Bhagat Salbeg?

How to become a devotee of Jagannath

In response to this question, those who say that the matter is when the Mughals were ruled in India. There was a brave soldier named Salbeg in this Mughal army. The Muslim father and the Hindu mother’s son Salbeg, as much as God believed in God, had faith in God. Once in a war, Salbeg suffered a deep head injury. He was no longer in the army due to being injured. Seeing the disappointment of the son, Salbeg’s mother said to him- You take shelter of Jagannath Prabhu and saying so, the mother narrated many stories of the glory of God. Hearing these stories, Salbig had a desire to see the Lord.

For such a wish, Salbig reached Jagannath Dham in Puri one day. If he started entering the temple there, he did not get permission due to non -religion. When he was disappointed, the mother said that you should stay outside and take the name of God. If your devotion is true, then Jagannath himself will come to your door. They definitely come. Salbeg tied this knot. In this way, on the way to the rath yatra, he made a monastery and stayed there and started worshiping Jai Jagannath.

It is said that after seeing his devotion, Jagannath Prabhu appeared in his dream and the same day Salbeg did not live in this world. It is said that on the go, Salbeg said- You have not come to me, then Jagannath Swami said- From now on, my chariot will not move forward without stopping at your door. This series continues till today. The rath yatra comes out and the devotee moves forward only after rest on Salbeg’s tomb.
