Driving 2 years 22,000 km, what does Tata Tiagov’s experience say? Learn – Tata Tiago Ev User Experience after 2 years and 22 Thousand Km Run Should You Buy An Electric Car Pros and Cons

Tata tiago ev user review: Seeing the EV moving on the road, many people think- is it beneficial to take it? For example, from its running cost, maintenance, charging infra to comfort, all the questions arise in the minds of people. Aajtak.in has brought for such people, 2 years and 22,000 km of driving experience of real user of EV.

Before knowing the user experience, we also know what is the status of electric vehicles in the Indian market. The Indian car market is becoming increasingly electrified. The government is also constantly encouraging to promote the use of electric vehicles. In the year 2024, between January and December, 19.49 units (20 lakh to 51 thousand units less) were sold. Which is about 27% more than the 15.32 lakh units sold throughout the year of 2023. These sales figures include all electric vehicles like two -wheelers, four -wheelers and buses etc.

Statistics are clearly indicating that people are getting attracted to EV. But a large stake in sales is electric two-wheelers (11.48 lakh). At the same time, about 6.91 lakh units have been sold for three -wheelers. But talking about the sale of cars, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association, a total of 99,165 units of electric cars were sold in the year 2024 across the country. Which is slightly higher than the 82,688 units sold in the year 2023.

Well, the discussion of electric is definitely happening everywhere, but if we look at the ground jeer, then in the case of cars, people are still moving a little slow. Tata Motors, the leader of EV segment, has the largest electric car portfolio. In such a situation, Aaj Tak has tried to find out from an electric car user of Tata Motors that for the last 2 years, his experience of running Tata Tiego electric car (User Experience) How has it been.

So let’s understand the user’s words and understand this-

What does the user say?

Around September 2022, Tata announced the early launch of its most awaited Ev Tiago. The company claimed that it will be the cheapest EV car ever and its running cost will also be equal to the bike. Seeing all the specialty and aspects like the price, comfort and running cost of the vehicle mentioned in the advertisement, I decided to buy this car. This was going to be the first electric vehicle (EV) of my family, even those who know me had no experience related to electric car or with it.

When purchased first evv

I booked Tata Tiagov XT MR (19.2 kwh battery) on October 19, 2022. Tata’s EV was prelined booking, for which the delivery was said since February 2023. However, even after February, after several rounds of conversation and many papad rolling, I got the delivery on May 4, 2023. I bought this vehicle in about 9.5 lakhs (onroads). After which I got a subsidy of 1 lakh on it on 2 December 2023. In this way, this vehicle was worth about 8.5 lakh rupees.

After taking this, the early days were very difficult. Understanding this car was quite different from my thinking. None of my acquaintances had experience from above, so there was no hope of help like information. And to ask for everything, going to the company’s showroom or workshop was also not practical positive. Even then gradually, I went on to increase friendship with my car. Currently, after 2 two years of purchasing, it has run more than 22 thousand km.

I mostly use it to go to office. Apart from this, it is also used in small works like local movement, walking, market-hat in Dilli-NCR. In a way, I have reported it on a bike.

How was the comfort?

Talking about rest, these cars are called City cars, this car is fully met on this criterion. Especially for metro city like Dilli-NCR, this is a very suitable vehicle. One, noise and biosphere is much less than diesel-petrol cars. At the same time, it is completely free from the clutch pressing in the traffic of the metro city and the hassle of gyrie shifting. Which makes it a very comfortable car.

How much spent on maintenance

This vehicle contains a little less mechanical components than diesel-petrol cars. Those who help in reducing its maintenance compared to any other ice (petrol-diesel) vehicle. Also, changing the inguinal oil is the most important reason in loosening the user’s pocket. At the same time, in addition to the body, there are only two things in my car- one motor and the other battery pack. Due to which diesel-petrol cars, mentality is very low in it.

The train has been going to the company’s workshop in the fixed period. Some of which took 40 minutes in some wishes and some have taken several hours, which is a better experience. But perhaps this can also happen because the company has made separate departments for EV in workshops, where there are experts of EV and they only see the work of EV.

Total maintenance cost

Since buying a car, this car has seen the workshop’s mouth dozens of times. Some of which have been made up to 400 rupees in 400 rupees and up to 3000 rupees. Many times 0 was charged. In these two years, I have paid around 6 thousand rupees in the name of Mentans. AC filter changes and brake oil, coolants, etc. are top-ups, along with the software updates from time to time in the serving of EV. In addition to this, work like wheel alloyment is done in Major Service.

Compulsion to go to the company authorized workshops

It is important to tell here that the company has to go to the workshop only for serving EV. Because one of its experts are available only on the authorized workshop of the company. It is not currently not its mechanic or knowledgeable. Second, its software updation is required from time to time, which can only happen in the author’s authorized workshops. Currently, it is free, but it may be that the company takes charge for it. I think that even if this work is free, then there will always be a compulsion to go to the company’s authorized workshops for it.

How much does it give … driving range

The company has claimed a 200 -km range in the sangle charging of this middle range model, but it is actually a driving range around 150km. But this is not a fix figure. Factors like battery condition, use of AC, driving methods and traffic have a direct impact on it. But assume that if its battery is showing below 30%, it needs to be charged with immediate effect.

(With City Run in Delhi-NCR and AC in April)

Class Running Cost

Actually EV’s running cost makes the medium of charging it. Based on this, the running cost of EV is fixed. In my case, my car runs about 1,000 km a month and with the use of slow charger at home, I get more and up to Rs 1,000. So it can be said that the running cost of this vehicle sits less than 1 rupee.

Note: This figure is based on the difference between and after purchasing EV before and in the domestic bijli bill.

Charging methods and costings

There are 3 ways to charge any EV-

1. Slow Charger: A slow charger is given by the company on behalf of the company. This is like charging its mobile at home with charger. It can be run from domestic business. For this, only 16 ampere sockets can work.

Time: With its help, it takes about 7-8 hours to charge the vehicle 10 to 100%.
Expenditure: In the around 1,000 km, it will have to pay a electricity bill of less than Rs 1,000.

2. Fast Charger: A fast charger is also given along with the car on behalf of the company. It can be run from domestic business, but 3 face heavy power line will be required for it.

Time: With its help, it takes about about 5 hours to charge 10 to 100%.
Expenditure: In the around 1,000 km, it will have to be paid more than Rs 1,000.

3. Commercial Heavy DC Fast Charger: This charger is available at public charging station and with its help your car is charged in a short time quickly.

Time: With its help, it takes about about 1 hour to charge 10 to 100%.
Expenditure: Rs 18.49 around KWH

However, DC fast charger which is available for public is completely commercial. Therefore, charging it is very expensive. Especially, it makes the fact that you are using a charger of the company/vendor and how KWH is consumed. For this, around Rs 18.49 per KWH (more than the value) is charged. Also, 18% GST charge is also imposed separately on it.

My expenses during charging at public station:

Charging time Kilowot consumer Spending, money
32 minutes 7.5 kwh 164/-
40 minutes 10.12 kwh 226/-
59 minutes 14.79 kwh 310.65/-

Folded, you have to pay around Rs 350 for a full charging (10-20% to 100%).

Note- All this is based on the experience of Tata Tiagov’s Mid variant XT MR (19.2 kwh battery-pack 79.06 horsepower model).

Some special things that need to pay attention to

How important is the reserve parking and power connection in it?

If you live in a highrise bilding and do not have a reserve parking (if there is a reserve parking, but it does not have a personal connection for the charger, nor does it seem to be such a problem due to the mercy of your society’s management), then your difficulties can increase with an electric car. If you live on the ground floor and there is a care of the car park and charge. Or live in the apartment and if you have a charging facility in your condition parking, then it will prove to be a better shopping for you.

How difficult to charge to charge from public charging station itself?

Many people are happy before purchasing EVs that we will charge the car from the public charging station, what do we need to setup our personal charger? But this option is quite painful. One, find the charging point according to your convenience. Then if there is already a car on charging there, then you have to wait. After that, it is not easy to wait until the charge of charging.

Can you run only in Kelkulated Distenses?

Those who take electric cars should tie this thing well that they can always run in a Calculated Distance in it. That is, it is not freedom to fill the Ferrata in EV as compared to NoneeV. If you are in such a journey, in which there is an existence about EV charging point, then there will be a fear in your mind.

EV much better than people?

Given the current situation and charging infra, the electric cars are much better for those who already have any ice (petrol-diesel). So that long drives or long distance travel can be used and EV as a city ride car. Although the electric cars with long range give a better solution to this problem, but if you look at the current prices of such models for it, you will have to loose a lot of pockets.

EV Charging Points

When you go to buy the car, there are questions in the mind about the availability of EV’s chargeing points. In such a situation, the dealers show the frequency of charging points on the root (short or long) to be used or used around you. But in reality it happens many times that if you reach the charging point being given on the apps, then it is known whether he is not in the current condition or is bad. In some places, the nozzle of charging guns is not compatible for your car, in some places these stations are private rather than public, that is, a vehicle charging facility is available only for a particular group/company.

How can the picture be better?

As the government has also asked to provide maximum charge of charging points to promote EV. After 2022, charger will be installed on the malls, societies, offices, public parking spaces and petrol pumps after 2022. But even after years, the reality is far from these claims and the picture is also reversed. In this case, the situation in Delhi is better than other states. In such a situation, it is expected from the government that there should be a chargeing points every 5 to 10 km. It is very important to take steps towards implementing this plan on more and more routes including highway. Otherwise, consider it impossible to have better experiences of EV buyers.
