Madras High Court Refuses to Hear Please Against Single Bench Order Refusing Neet Re-Examination | Will NEET exam be again? Court spoke to 12 students who reached the appeal

The Madras High Court on Thursday (July 3, 2025) rejected the appeal of a group of medical students against the order of a single judge’s bench to refuse NEET examination and said that any such step would badly affect more than 20 lakh students.

The High Court on June 6 rejected the petitions requested to ban the result of the examination, which cleared the way for the National Examination Agency (NTA) to release the examination results.

S Sai Priya and 11 others filed an appeal against the June 6 order. In these petitions, Priya and other students had requested that due to the power failure at four examination centers in Chennai, the students who had to face difficulties, should be re -examined and the results should not be declared till then.

A bench of Justice J Nisha Banu and Justice M Jotirman rejected the appeal on Thursday. The bench said, ‘It should be noted that the purity of the examination is especially ensured through human supervision, including the presence of supervisor and coordinator appointed by Center Superintendent, Inspector, NTA. All these officials investigated and confirmed that the examination was conducted smoothly.

The court said that statistical analysis was done by an independent expert committee and it had analyzed the analysis on the average number of questions solved by the candidates at the said center based on anonymous data and compared with other centers in the Thiruvallur district is statistically comparable in all the centers of the district, where the examination was conducted smoothly.

The court said, “There was no significant difference in the number of questions solved in this analysis, which confirmed that the alleged power cuts did not physically affect the performance of the candidates. Apart from this, NEET (UG) is 2025 mass national examination.

The court said, ‘If the examination is allowed in such circumstances, then more than 20 lakh candidates will be badly affected, so we do not see any reason to intervene in the order. This appeal is rejected.
