Turkey-bangladesh relations: The emerging strategic defense partnership between Turki and Bangladesh has given a new challenge to India’s diplomatic and security strategy. While China has already deepened investment and military relations in Bangladesh, now the Turki entry can give rise to new polarity and rivalry in the region. Turki recently supported Pakistan in anti -India matters.
The government of Bangladesh’s interim Prime Minister Mohammad Yunus has taken an anti -India stance. Now they want to share the defense industry in association with Turkias. This partnership is strategic, not just business. The Dhaka tour of Turki’s Defense Industry Agency (SSB) chief Huruk Gorgun on July 8 is not just a courtesy meeting but a strategic preparation. Bida (Bangladesh Investment Development Authority) has already planned to develop a defense corridor with Turkey in Chittagong and Narayanganj.
From drone to satellite in Bangladesh
Turki companies are internationally famous for their drone technology, missile systems, radars and aerospace engineering. Bayraktar TB2 drones of Turkas are quite a great weapon. Turk’s Kale Group Missile Building and ASELSAN and ROKETSAN electronic warfare and radar. In Bangladesh, these companies are planning to open local production units, which can make them not only customers but also a production hub.
Challenging situation for India
The relations between India and Bangladesh are already under stress on issues like Rohingya, NRC, CAA. In such a situation, the moving of Bangladesh along with Turkas and China can put India under three -sided strategic pressure. Apart from this, possible military intervention in Myanmar can affect the security of the northeastern states of India. According to some reports, America is also looking at Bangladesh as a geopolitical weapon against Myanmar.
