JP’s tea party, after which there was a ruckus in Congress … and ‘young Turk’ arrested in Emergency Chandrashekhar

Chandrashekhar … The name that spontaneously comes to the image of a person who has a light white beard on his face and wears white dhoti-kurta. This ‘Yuva Turk’ has the ability to call anyone wrong in front of anyone in the Lutyens zone of Delhi, even if there is a ‘rigid’ leader like Indira Gandhi in front. Some people also believe that due to giving clear and clear answers, they had to go to jail during the Emergency even while in Congress. However, Chandrashekhar himself has also given another reason in his autobiography. First it is known where and how Chandrashekhar and Indira Gandhi met.

first meeting between Indira and Chandrashekhar & nbsp;

Chandrashekhar joined the Congress after being disappointed with the Praja Socialist Party. He writes in his autobiography that his first meeting with Indira Gandhi took place during a meeting in Mahua region of Gujarat. Chandrashekhar writes, ‘The first meeting with her (Indira ji) took place on the stage of that conference. Someone said- these are Chandrashekhar ji. Indira ji said- I had heard a lot. On this I said- I too had heard your name a lot, till now I have not got the opportunity to meet. ‘

Chandrasekhar told that he had met Indira Gandhi at the behest of leaders like Gurupadaswamy, Indrakumar Gujral, Ashok Mehta. The young Turk writes about the first meeting with Indira Gandhi, ‘Indira ji asked- Chandrashekhar ji, do you consider Congress as socialist? & nbsp; I said- I do not believe that Congress is a socialist institution, but people say so. He asked why did you come to Congress again? So I asked if you want to know the correct answer? Yes, this is what I want. ‘

Chandrashekhar said to Indira Gandhi- ‘I worked with full potential and honesty in the Praja Socialist Party for 13 years. I tried to take the party on the path of socialism with full devotion, but after working for a long time, I felt that the organization was stunned. The party has become frustrated, does not grow. Now nothing is going to happen here. Then I thought that Congress is a big party. Walk in this, do something. ‘

Indira Gandhi was surprised to hear Chandrashekhar’s answer!

After this Indira Gandhi asked Chandrashekhar- what do you want to do after coming here? So I replied- I will try to make Congress a socialist. On this, he asked if it was not made. On this I said- I will try to break it because it will not come in the country till it breaks. At first I will try to become a socialist, but if it is not made then there will be no option but to break it. & Nbsp;

Indira Gandhi was surprised to hear Chandrashekhar’s answer. He asked the young Turk what would happen by breaking the party? He told that the Congress has become a banyan tree. No other plant will develop in its spread. No plant can thrive under this banyan. Therefore, until this party is broken, there will be no revolutionary change. & nbsp;

It was at that time when Indira Gandhi became the Prime Minister for the first time and she did not have much hold on the organization. When the 1969 presidential election came and the Congress declared Neelam Sanjeev Reddy as the official candidate, Chandrashekhar openly came out in protest against Reddy and he also cleared Indira Gandhi that he should not support Neelam Sanjeev Reddy, after which VV Giri was fielded by Indira Gandhi and then he became the President of the country."Text-Align: justify;"> JP’s tea party created a ruckus

Chandrashekhar had a good relationship with Chandrashekhar, Jayaprakash Narayan, who is leading the Bihar movement. When the movement started, Chandrashekhar was the one who used to have a conversation between Indira Gandhi and JP. Chandrasekhar called JP on tea at Delhi residence. There was a lot of uproar about this tea party of Chandrashekhar. Chandrashekhar has written in his autobiography ‘Jeevan like Jia’ that some people say that the distance between Indira ji and me had increased after this tea party, but he never talked to me about it. Apart from 5-7 members of Parliament, about 100 people attended this tea party of JP. & Nbsp;

The controversy had increased so much that the then Home Minister Umashankar Dixit had called all those MPs for questioning one by one why they had gone to attend the tea party held at Chandrashekhar’s house. However, those MPs had said that they did not know that JP was invited here. Maya Ray, wife of the then Chief Minister of West Bengal Siddharth Shankar Ray, was also attending this tea party, who was sitting on the door frame, which was published in the newspapers. & nbsp;

After this party, Congress leaders criticized Chandrashekhar a lot. Not only this, when the Congress camp was set up in Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, this issue was overshadowed for two days. Although Chandreshkhar has written that Indira ji never asked her any question about it. & nbsp;
Before the arrest, Chandrashekhar went to watch the movie in the cinema hall & nbsp;

Emergency came into force in the country on the night of 25 June, that day Chandrashekhar went to watch ‘Sholay’ movies in Delhi’s Regal Cinema with his friend and former Prime Minister BP Koirala and Shailaja Acharya from Nepal. He writes, ‘When I came home, I was told by Dayanand Sahai that today JP gave a wonderful speech at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. On hearing the summary of the speech, I said that this is the last speech. We slept at 12 o’clock in the night and at around three o’clock we got a call that the police had reached Gandhi Peace Foundation to arrest JP. ‘

He wrote that we immediately reached Gandhi Peace Foundation with a taxi. When the police reached the Parliament Street police station after sitting in the car there, we also reached behind. Meanwhile, an official said that there is a warrant for arrest for you too. After this I told JP that you go, I have to go to another place. He asked that you are also arrested, so I said-yes. After this he said- ‘Destruction black opposite intellect.’

I met Indira Gandhi after being released from jail & nbsp;

When the Congress lost in the 1977 elections and the Janata Party formed the government, Chandrashekhar met Indira Gandhi. Chandrashekhar writes, ‘When we met, there was silence for a while. I broke the silence and asked- Indira ji, how are you, then she said that I am fine. How are you- I said that I am also fine. I asked him how you went to such an extent. His answer was- Chandrashekhar ji, people put me in misunderstanding. I was given wrong advice. Meanwhile, Indira told Chandrashekhar that now her security and housing will also be taken away. On this, Chandrashekhar asked- Who will not give you a house? Indira ji said- Morarji will not give brother. I said- they will not do this.
