PM Modi Addresses Trinidad and Tobago Parliament: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to 5 countries these days. After Ghana, PM Modi reached Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday (July 3, 2025). In Port of Spain on Friday, he said that the voice of developing countries is not being raised strongly and India will work with its partners to get Global South a proper place on the right platform.
Addressing the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago, the Prime Minister said that terrorism is an enemy of humanity and the global community should unite to give it a shelter or no place. PM Modi said that during the chairmanship of India G20, the concerns of Global South were brought to the center of the global decision process.
Free trade is under pressure- PM Modi
He said that our partnerships are based on respect and unconditional. PM Modi clearly said this to give the difference between the perspective of India and China for Global South. The first Prime Minister of India, the first Prime Minister to address the Parliament of the Caribbean country, said that free trade is under pressure and is facing challenges of world climate change, food, health and energy security.
He said that the old institutions are struggling to bring peace and progress. Meanwhile, global South is emerging. The countries involved in this want to see a new and more fair world system. PM Modi said that when 75 years of establishment of the United Nations were completed, there was great hope in developing countries. It was expected that the pending improvements would be realized for a long time. Eventually our voice will be heard, but that hope turned into despair.
‘Terrorism is the enemy of humanity’
PM Modi called terrorism a serious threat and called for concerted efforts to deal with it. Modi said that terrorism is an enemy of humanity. This Red House (Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago) has seen the wounds of terrorism and the blood of innocent people flowing.
Global South includes the countries that are considered less developed in terms of technology and social development. These countries are mainly located in the southern hemisphere. This includes countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
