Odisha Puri Lord Jagannath Bahuda Yatra Tight Security Arrangements Have Been Made

Bahuda yatra: Strict security arrangements have been made on Saturday (July 5, 2025) for the ‘Bahu Yatra’ of Lord Jagannath in Puri, Odisha. With this journey, the Rath Yatra festival will also end.

Officials said that a total of 6,000 officers of the state police and 800 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel have been deployed in the city to ensure that there is no untoward incident. He said that on June 29, three people died in a stampede near Gundicha temple during the festival.

CCTV cameras equipped with AI installed
Regarding the journey, an official said that due to the adaptation of the weather, special traffic arrangements have also been made in the ‘Bahuda Yatra’. He informed that more than 275 AI -equipped CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor the crowd.

Senior police officers under the leadership of Director General of Police YB Khurania are camping to ensure the Bahu Yatra smoothly in Puri. During the yatra, Lord Balabhadra, Goddess Subhadra and Lord Jagannath will return to the 12th century temple riding on their chariots after spending a week in their birthplace Gundicha temple.

‘Take all possible measures to make the festival smoothly’
Khurania said in a conversation with the media on Friday that we have taken all possible measures to make the festival smoothly. According to the Jagannath temple administration, the ‘Pahandi’ or Yatra of the Devas will be taken out on Saturday afternoon.

The ‘Raja’ Gajapati Maharaja Divyasinh Deb of Puri will formal cleaning the chariots between two and a half hours to 3:30 pm, which is known as ‘Chhera Paharra’. The chariot pull ceremony will be held at 4 pm.
