Trinidad and Tobago Supported India Permanent Membership in UNSC AMID PM Modi Visit

Trinidad and tobago supports india PM in unsc: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to 5 countries these days. Amid this visit by PM Modi, Caribbean countries Trinidad and Tobago have supported India’s United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for permanent membership.

On Friday (July 4), PM Modi signed 6 agreements to increase cooperation in many areas including infrastructure and medicine with his counterpart Kamla Prasad Bisacer. During this time, the two leaders discussed possible cooperation in areas like agriculture, healthcare and digital change, contact between UPI and people.

Trinidad and Tobago supported
A joint statement released on Saturday said that Trinidad and Tobago have confirmed their full support to India for permanent membership in the extended United Nations Security Council. The statement said that the two leaders, while accepting the growing land political stress and global conflicts, told the way to carry forward dialogue and diplomacy.

India has supported the candidature of the temporary seat of Trinidad and Tobago in the United Nations Security Council for 2027-28. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the Prime Minister’s historic visit to Trinidad and Tobago has led to special relations between the two countries.

Consent on Global South countries
The Ministry of External Affairs said that PM Modi and Bisacer have agreed to work together for more solidarity between the countries of Global South and strengthen the India-Caundice partnership. Caricom (Caribbean Community) is a regional political and economic association of 15 nations and 5 associate members.

PM Modi reached Port of Spain on Thursday in the second phase of 5 countries visit. This is the first bilateral visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Trinidad and Tobago since 1999.
