With the Bihar assembly elections coming close, the focus of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also shifted to free schemes and maximum convenience to voters. After decisions like women’s reservation and increasing pension, now their preparation is to provide free electricity to the people of the state up to 100 units. This proposal has been approved by the Finance Department, but the cabinet is yet to be approved.
It is being told that all the families of the state will get the benefit of the free electricity scheme. A proposal has been prepared by the Department of Energy to provide 100 units of free electricity. This proposal was first sent to the Finance Department where it was approved. Under the proposal, consumers will not have to pay any charge up to 100 units, but those using more than this will have to pay the charge per unit.
It is not clear what will be the outline of this Free Bijli scheme. For example, only after approval of the cabinet, it will be known how consumers can avail this scheme. The first Finance Department’s approval has been taken regarding the scheme, because the state government will have to bear its economic burden. At present, consumers are charged Rs 7.57 per unit for the first 50 units in urban areas of the state. After this, a fee of Rs 7.96 is charged.
Increase in social security pension
With the election coming close, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday announced an increase in the Social Security Pension Scheme. Under this, pension will now get Rs 1100 instead of Rs 400 per month. CM Nitish said that the increased pension amount will start from July. With this decision, more than 1 crore 9 lakh 69 thousand beneficiaries across the state are expected to get relief.
Announcement of 35% reservation for women
Under a major step of Nari Shakti (Women Empowerment) before the upcoming assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced on Tuesday that 35 percent of the posts in every category of state government jobs will be reserved only for permanent resident women of Bihar. The CM said that the government is committed to increasing the representation of women in the workforce, so that more women join the workforce and play a big role in governance and administration in Bihar.
