Air India Plane Crash: The engine stopped, not the passion … Both pilots struggled to save the aircraft till the last moment – Air India Plane Crash Aaib Report Says Pilots Tried Relighting Engines Before Mayday Ntc

Aaib Report on Air India Plane Crash: The report of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has come in the plane crash of Air India on June 12, 2025 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. In this report, many revelations have been made about what was happening on the flight about the plane crash.

The AAIB report has revealed that the pilots had tried to start both engines till the last time and the recovery in at least one engine (engine-1) started. But the engine 2 could not manage.

Important revelations of AAIB report

The AAIB report has revealed that the last attempt was made to save the plane a few seconds before the pilots gave a call.

What happened at the last moment?

According to the report, just 13 seconds before the “Mayday” call, the pilots returned the engine fuel control switch from “cutoff” to “run” i.e. it means to start the process of starting the engine again.

  • The fuel switch of the engine 1 was brought to “run” at 1 to 38 minutes 52 seconds in the afternoon.
  • At 1.38 minutes 54 in the afternoon, the APU (Assistant Electrical Unit) inlet began to open, causing the engine start process to activate.
  • The engine 2 switch was also done on “run” at 1 to 38 minutes 56 seconds in the afternoon.

Under this process, FADEC (full authority digital engine control) system automatically takes control of fuel and ignition. The EGT (exhaust gas temperature) of both engines showed a rapid rise – this is a sign of relay.

The engine 1 was starting, the engine 2 failed

The core decoration of the engine 1 stopped (slowing down), and the engine started.

The engine 2 also released, but could not stop its core speed, and the fuel was repeatedly inserted, but the engine could not be fully recovering.

When did the recording stop?

The recording of the EAFR (engine aircraft flight recorder) stopped at 1 to 39 minutes 11 seconds in the afternoon – that is, the last technical data was recorded.
