Another major negligence of Maharashtra State Transport Department (ST) has been revealed. The driver and conductor of the ST bus going from Pandharpur to Akot were found to be intoxicated. This incident is from Beed district. Due to the intoxication of both of them, the lives of 37 passengers in the bus were in danger.
The incident took place on Saturday when this bus number number MH-14-6140 left for Varkari passengers from Akot depot. Bus driver Santosh Rahete and conductor Santosh Jhalate had drunk alcohol during duty. On the way, when the bus reached the border of Beed district, the passengers saw that the driver was not able to run the bus properly and the conductor was rolling on its seat.
On apprehension, the passengers stopped the bus and informed the Beed Transport Department and the local police. The police and the ST administration, who came in action immediately, reached the spot and detained the driver and the conductor. In the initial inquiry, both of them admitted to drinking alcohol. He has been sent for medical examination, and after the report comes, suspension and dismissal action will be taken.
Passengers on the bus say that the bus survived several times from hitting the divider, which could have caused a big accident. Passengers also recorded a video of this incident, which is now going viral on social media. Now the passengers have demanded that Zero Tolerance Policy should be adopted on such negligence and the culprits should be strictly punished. The State Transport Department has decided to send a detailed report of the case to Akola Division and investigation has been started.
