Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar has given a statement on Saturday (July 12, 2025) amid speculation on the post of Chief Minister of the state. He said that it is not his job to publicly discuss issues like Chief Minister’s posts, but it is his priority to bring the party to power again in the 2028 assembly elections. However, during this time, his statement about the chair has also given air to new speculation.

D.K. Shivkumar’s statement came at a time when discussions are in full swing about power sharing and possible change of power in Karnataka. However, the Chief Minister of the state Siddaramaiah has already dismissed these speculation outright and he has stressed that he will definitely complete his entire five -year tenure.

On the question asked about the post of Chief Minister of Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar said, “The party will decide on this at the right time. I do not want to discuss it. This is not an issue that should be discussed publicly. Our job is to bring the party back to power in the 2028 assembly elections.”

However, in another statement made on Saturday (July 12), Shivkumar again gave air to speculation about the post of Chief Minister. He said, “It is difficult to get a chair. But, when the chair is found, you have to come and sit on it.”

According to the report of news agency ANI, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar made this comment on Friday (July 11, 2025) during the inauguration of the Nadprabhu Kepagauda Jayanti celebrations organized by the Bengaluru Bar Association.

Addressing the lawyers present in the program, Deputy Chief Minister Shivkumar said, “There are a lot of chairs here, come and sit down. It is difficult to get a chair. But when the chair is found, you have to come and sit. But if you look at yourself, it seems that you are abandoned.”
