The first sentence was sentenced in the digital arrest case in Uttar Pradesh. In the capital Lucknow, a thug who cheated 85 million from a female doctor was sentenced to 7 years by the court.

Let us tell you that by calling himself a CBI officer, KGMU’s senior doctor Dr. Soumya Gupta has convicted the cyber criminal Devashish, who cheated Rs 85 lakh from Dr. Soumya Gupta. This historical decision was given by Special CJM Custom Amit Kumar.

The case was investigated by Cyber Police Station Lucknow and concrete evidence was presented in the court by Inspector Brajesh Kumar Yadav. This is the first case in the country in the history of cybercrime in which the court has been sentenced within 14 months on charges of digital arrest. The accused Devashish is a resident of Drawa village of Ajmatgarh area of Azamgarh.

Know the whole matter

Prosecution officer Mashindra said that on 15 April 2024, Dr. Saumya Gupta was doing his duty at KGMU. Then the accused Devashish called him and described himself as an officer of the Customs Department and said that he is speaking from Indira Gandhi Airport in Delhi. He claimed that there is a cargo book in the name of Dr. Gupta in which fake passport, ATM card and 140 grams MDM were found.
After this, Devashish transferred the call and talked to the person who described himself as a fake CBI officer, who threatened Dr. Gupta that he could be in jail for seven years. Due to fear, the doctor shared his personal information like bank account, PAN number and property details.

The accused kept the doctor in a digital arrest for 10 days through fear and threats and got a total of Rs 85 lakh in separate four bank accounts. In the investigation, the accused was identified as Devashish, who was arrested and produced in the court. On the basis of strong evidence, the court convicted him and sentenced him to seven years sentence and penalty.
