The petition filed to save Indian nurse Nimisha Priya, who was suffering from the death sentence of Yemen (Yemen) jail, was heard in the Supreme Court. In this case, the petitioner named ‘Save Nimisha Priya Action Council’ sought permission from the court that she should be allowed to go to Yemen to talk to the family members of the deceased in this case.

The lawyer told the court that the death sentence has been stopped. We are grateful to the government but we need to go to Yemen, so that we can talk to the family of the deceased.

On behalf of the government, Attorney General R Venkatramani said in the court that we do not want anything that will not happen in the wrong result. We want this woman to come back safely.

The Supreme Court asked the petitioner to give a memorandum to the central government. The government will decide on this according to its own, we cannot say anything on this.

The court has fixed the next hearing date on 14 August, allowing the petitioner to submit a memorandum to the government.

What is the attitude of the Government of India on the matter?

India said on Thursday that the case of 36 -year -old nurse Nimisha Priya, who is facing death sentence in connection with the murder of a Yemeni citizen in Yemen, is sensitive and the government is in touch with friendly countries on the issue.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said in a weekly press conference that the government has provided legal assistance to Priya’s family and regularly arranged cancer meetings.

He said, “This is a sensitive matter and the Government of India is trying for every possible assistance in this matter. We have provided legal aid and appointed a lawyer to assist the family. We have also arranged consular meetings regularly and are constantly in contact with local authorities and family members to resolve the issue.”
