When Maharishi Ved Vyas composed a poetic book called ‘Jai’, all the things that were still in the knowledge of the Vedas, or whose interpretation, had to resort to the Upanishads and Brahmin texts to understand the interpretation. Apart from this, whatever description of all the secrets, origin and its destruction of the world was somewhere in different texts, Maharishi Ved Vyas included all of them in this great book. Due to the description of the great kings of the Bharata dynasty in detail, this Jayakavya later called Mahabharata and all its events are involved in some kind of incident in the previous period.
To understand this, this example is enough that when Ugrashravaji started narrating the story of Mahabharata to the sages engaged for penance in Naimisharanya, in view of all its secrets, the sages started asking many questions. All these questions used to be taken towards events that took place in the past. Rishi Ugrashrava answered every question in a very beautiful way. The sages asked what anger and mourning did Janmejaya do to the Nagayagya? Why did the serpents be consumed? Why did Takshak stole King Parikshit?
Then the sage Ugrashravaji narrated the story related to all the questions one by one. He told that his mother Kadru had cursed the serpents to be consumed. After narrating this story, now the sage Ugrashrava moved towards the episode of what was the reason for the premature death of King Parikshit and why did Takshak be stung by Takshak?
Rishi Ugrashrava now started telling the episode what was the reason for the death of King Parikshit. After the war of Mahabharata, the Pandavas took over the kingdom of Hastinapur. Yudhishthira became king. In the war, the entire Kuru dynasty ended (weak), the only son of Abhimanyu, who enhances the next generation, survived. He was also born after many crises. He was born in the midst of the Kuruvansh’s test (completely terminated), so he was called Parikshit. Second, at birth, he passed through many difficult situations and examinations of life and he was also survived, so his name also became tested.
The Pandavas, after the Mahaprayan (Vaikuntha Gaman) of Shri Krishna, also gave up the burden of the kingdom and Abhimanyu’s son Kumar Parikshit, who got him initiated in every way and handed him the kingdom. In this way the Pandavas went to the ascension. Parikshit now became Maharaj and then gradually also became the emperor. He was Prajapalak, just, truthful, truthful and even dear to the gods. He took education of Dhanurveda from Kulguru Kripacharya, read the policy from him and started following the same policy and started operating the state. He was skilled in Rajdharma, was proficient in economics. There were no crimes like theft and robbery in his kingdom. Householders, monks, traders, saints were all happy in their kingdom.
Saying this, Ugrashrava ji stopped. Then said- sages, on Janmejaya’s asking all this, his ministers told him. Then Janmejaya said- I know all this about my great father. There is no doubt about his Pratap, yet I want to know the cause of his death from all the intelligent Sudhijans. Then all the ministers started silently looking at each other.
Then an old minister started speaking. Maharaj Janmejaya! Your father was ultimate and heroic. Like other ancestors of Kurukul and like Maharaj Pandu, he was also a victim lover. Once he left for the hunting and went far away. He had targeted a deer, but after filling the deer, he took him to a dense forest and drove him away from the kingdom. Since your father was now getting old and tired of hunting race, He felt hungry for full and the sun god was on the head of the head. Maharaja started getting upset due to strong sunlight and fatigue and hunger. Patient is the greatest religion for the illustrious great men, but Maharaj Parikshit begins to be impatient with fatigue.
At the same time, he saw the ashram of a monk in the forest. He reached there and started questioning the sage about the ashram, food, water etc. Muni was in meditation state at that time and the second he also took silence. Here, when the sage did not answer, the Maharaj, who was disabled and impatient with fatigue, started getting angry and to despise the monk, raised a dead snake and put a dead snake in his neck.
The sage did not react to this act of the king and kept quietly in his practice. The king also returned to his capital. The name of those silent sages was Rishi Shamik. Rishi Shringi was the son of sage Shamik. He was also fasting and very ascetic like his father, although he could not win anger. When he heard all this account from the mouth of one of his friends, he was very angry and immediately cursed the king with water in his hand, ‘Who has put a dead snake around my innocent father’s neck, he will burn the wicked by burning the takshak within seven days.’
Rishi Shringi reached his father and took this curse and took him well. During this time, he also told the father about the curse. Then the sage Shamik was very worried. He immediately sent this information by sending one of his disciples to your father, our Maharaj Parikshit and asked to be careful. He made more purposes to save your father, but he also failed. Janmejaya asked- What did he do to save my father and how did he fail? On this, that old minister said- Maharaj Janmejaya! The day it was the seventh day of the curse, then the Takshak left for your father to stalk. When he was coming, he saw a Brahmin named Kashyap moving towards Hastinapur very fast on the way. He changed his form and asked the Brahmin who are you and where are you going so fast?
Kashyap Brahmin said- Today, Takshak Nag will definitely consume King Parikshit. I am going there As soon as Takshak does his work, I will make the king alive with mantras. If I arrive on time, then the Takshak will not be able to stalk them. Hearing all this, Takshak came out in his true form and said- Mahamuni! I am the Takshak. Nobody can alive my dancing. He gets consumed immediately. You will not be able to do anything.
Saying this, Takshak stung a tree standing there. As soon as Takshak did this, the tree was consumed. Seeing this, Kashyapa Brahmin made the tree green at the same time with the strength of learning. Takshak was stunned when Takshak saw this miracle. Now he started giving various kinds of temptation to the Brahmin. He asked why do you want to go to Hastinapur? The Brahmin said- I am going there with the will of wealth. Then Takshak Nag put a lot of money in front of the Brahmin and showed fear and said that take it back from here. After this, Takshak came with deceit and your father was killed by snakebite.
Janmejaya listened carefully and became unhappy, yet he did not lose patience and said- Minister! You told the story of the tree being consumed and then getting green, it is a matter of great surprise. Is there any evidence to believe them? How to consider it. Then the minister said- When the Takshak was talking to the Brahmin Kashyap under that tree, a person had climbed for dry wood on the same tree. He was also consumed as soon as Takshak stung, then when Kashyap made the tree green, he too became alive and recovered. Neither Takshak came to know about this nor Kashyap Brahmin, but he had heard all their things, so he came to the capital and informed us about this entire account. This was the reason for the death of your father, which we told you, as well as why your father could not survive even after being careful. So now you should do what is appropriate and punish the criminals who are correct as the punishment.
Janmejaya listened to this whole account and said in a voice filled with mourning- Rishi Uttanka is right. Takshak is the only entitler of this sin and punishment. He took water in his hand and committed it to say- ‘Takshak is the guilty of my father. The curse of the sage Shringi was an excuse, but Takshak returned the Kashyap Brahmin and forcibly made him successful. If he wanted, according to the curse, my father would have stung and then the Brahmins would make him alive with his knowledge. In this way both things would have been correct, but Takshak did not let this happen. Therefore, I resolve to avenge Takshak to avenge my father’s death.
Addressing this story, Ugrashravaji addressed the sages and said- After this resolve of King Janmejaya, there was a stir on the earth. Janmejaya called his priests and Ritvij sages and spoke to him and asked him- do you know any home, any karma that can be consumed in a blazing fire? Then the Ritijas told Janmejaya that Maharaja, such a yagna has already been described in the Puranas. The gods have already created a law of a yajna, which you will be made. This was sure to happen by you. Then the priests narrated the stories to Janmejaya, in which the serpents got curse from their mother. Hearing these things of the Ritijas, Janmejaya started feeling the decision of his snake sacrifice. Now preparations for the yagna started. Yagyashala became, Yajnamandap was prepared, Dixit was initiated for Janmejaya Yajna. At the same time a bizarre incident happened.
Creating a altar for Yajnamandap, a wise yarn said- Looking at the place and time on which the process of measuring this Yajna mandapa has started, it seems that this yagya will not be completed due to a Brahmin. When King Janmejaya heard this, he told the gatekeepers that without giving me information and taking orders, no outsider should come to the Yajna Mandap. In this way, the serpentine of Janmejaya started, in which many snakes, cursed from Nagmata Kadru, started falling and consumed.
Chyawanshi Chandbhargava used to be in the snake yagna. Kauts Udgata, Jaimini Rishi Brahma as well as Sharangarava and Pingal Adhvaryu. Vyasaji, Uddalak Rishi (Aruni), Extreme, Shwetketu, Asit, Deval, etc. were accompanied by sons and disciples. As soon as the name was offered by taking the name, big terrible snakes came and fell into the fire tank and consumed. Due to the fat of the snakes and the burning of the fat, foul odor started to rise all around. The sky echoed with the screams of the snakes.
The eyes of the Ritijas turned red with sharp smoke. He was wearing black clothes and chanting the mantra. As the sacrifice used to be, the snakes started to suffer, wrapping each other in the tail and fan. Some big snakes tried to stop themselves by taking heavy breaths, but all meaningless. Every kind of snakes of white, black, yellow, red, shiny started falling into the mouth of the fire and started to consume. Some four kosters long and some are as small as cow’s ears. Some old, some young people all started falling. Some hair snakes were consumed by the heat of the pool above.
When Takshak saw all this and heard, Devraj went to Indra’s shelter. Said- I am a criminal and have come to your shelter. On this, Indra said- I have already taken the abyss from Brahmaji to protect you, so stay relaxed and do not be unhappy. After listening to Indra, Takshak started living in Indrabhavan comfortably.
