Mahabharata Katha: The protector of serpents, Bal Muni, who protects snakes from yagya… Who is ‘Atik Maharaj’, who stopped Janmejaya

What is life and what is the right way to live it? Vedas were composed in the Shruti tradition of Sanatan in answering these two most important questions related to life. When the secret of the Vedas began to become more innocent, the Upanishads were formed to explain them in a simple way, while expanding the interpretation of these Upanishads and trying to simplify the Brahmin texts and then the Puranas were composed when the need to explain these ideas through the characters.

It is said that earlier all the Vedas were the same and the description of all the Puranas also came in the same. The story of the characters involved in these was very entangled. Maharishi Vyas divided the Vedas into the same department and gave four parts, gave the principle of Chaturveda. He also divided the Puranas into 18 departments and also named them on the basis of their head deity. Out of all these Puranas, two stories give words to the meaning of life, its importance and its definition, He is Ramayana and Mahabharata …

Both these stories are written as epics and are famous all over the world. It has been told in this that renunciation is the true meaning of life. It is a true way of living an attempt to live a life without giving anyone suffering and any work should be done only to fulfill his selfishness (whether it is a chant, sacrifice, penance, charity or a longing of virtue), all fall under the category of sins. These sin bind in the bondage of karma, due to which a human being gets trapped in the cycle of birth and death.

The holy story of Mahabharata tells the same thing again and again through its characters. Whether it is of Kadru, the mother of the serpents, in which he asked the serpents to trick only to degrade his sister Vinata. Or is this story of the sin of King Parikshit, in which he put a dead snake around the sage’s neck in the spiritual sage, or why should this story not be of Takshak Nag, who made every effort that no one could save him if he dances to King Parikshit.

King Janamejaya, who was immersed in mourning due to this audacity of Takshak, became angry and he considered the entire Nagat as his enemy to take revenge on only one snake. In the huge yajna altar that was burning in the altar in Hastinapur, the snake started falling in it and a big destructive smoke from this and started to shed on the sky. When Takshak saw all this and heard, Devraj went to Indra’s shelter. Said- I am a criminal and have come to your shelter. On this, Indra said- I have already taken the abyss from Brahmaji to protect you, so stay relaxed and do not be unhappy. After listening to Indra, Takshak started living in Indrabhavan comfortably.

Hearing this story from Sauti Kulbhushan Ugrashrava ji in Naimisharanya Tirtha, the representative of 12000 sages and their Yajna Guru Shaunak Ji said- O dear Ugrashrava! You have described the heart of Mahabharata how beautiful and the definition of life is also explained in very easy words, but now you should also solve a doubt of our sages through the story. You said- In Hastinapur, the snakes were getting consumed by falling in the Nag Yagya, but Takshak Nag started living in Indra’s shelter and stayed in Indrabhavan. Indra also took the promise of protecting him from Brahmaji,

But it was Brahmaji who supported the curse of Kadru, when he cursed his own sons to be consumed. Then how did Brahmaji promise to protect Takshak. The words of Brahma are never false, but one of his words is causing a reason to make the other a liar. What is this secret? How did the life of Takshak protect? How did the fierce snake session be closed? Also tell this story and mystery.

Ugrashrava ji, who was narrating the sages and accepting their love insistence, started speaking in a very disastrous voice. He said- sages! This story of Mahabharata is full of a lot of wonders, it is not just a result of a time, but it is the result of many incidents that have happened in the past, but many incidents in the past, and even in the earlier era, it happened just because the Mahabharata was about to happen in the last phase of Dwaparyuga.

One such incident took place on Kailash ages ago. A part of Mahadev’s Tej fell and as soon as he fell, he reached Naglok of Patal. There, a divine girl was born from that part. Nagalok’s defeated Lord Vasuki sits his garland in the neck of Lord Neelkanth and considers himself the son of Mahadev, so he accepted this girl as his sister and followed him as the daughter of Mahadev. She was the Manasputri of Kanya Mahadev, so it was called Mansa and Nagraj Vasuki named her Jartakaru. At the same time it was decided that later this girl would play a big role in a great story.

Now you people will remember that when Nagmata Kadru cursed his Nagaputras, the Supreme Father Brahma also appeared and supported his curse. He had said that at this time many such snakes have arisen and have started misusing their power and strength, so the serpents had to get this punishment. When the time comes, the curse of Nag Mata Kadru will also be true. Hearing this, there was an outcry in the Nag caste and all the serpents became very worried.

He held a meeting under the leadership of Nagraj Vasuki and expressed great grief on this subject and started taking measures to rescue. Some Nag said that we all take the sages who performed the Nag Yajna, there will be no sage. On this, Vasuki said- In this way, another sin of Brahmana will rise on all the serpents. The other said- when there is a yajna, we will enter into the city and villages and create chaos, then if the attention of the kings and sages will distract, then there will be no sacrifice. One said- we steal the sacrificial material of the sages, this will not lead to the sacrifice. One said that we ourselves will disguise Ritviz Munis and read the wrong mantra.

On hearing such an unruly things by his Nag brothers, the devotees of Anantnag and Sheshnag ji were very sad and left the meeting and went to his lord Vishnu’s world. Here, Nagraj Vasuki remained alone with his brothers. Then one of them said- Shiksha ji, we are a snake and our intellect is not in religion like this, so we will be able to give ideas like taking sting, stealing, now do the same as you think.

Then Vasuki Nag and worry became that how to protect the serpents? Amidst this concern, the smallest of the serpents, Ellapatra Nag Hansa and said- O Nag brothers! Listen, mother’s curse is sure to be true, it is also certain that the serpents will also be protected. Both things have to be done. Then the other serpents said to the Ellapatra Nag- Brother, how are you saying all this so clear? Ellapatra Nag said- When mother gave this curse, I hid in her lap due to being small and fear. Then Brahma ji supported the curse of the mother. During this time, the gods expressed concern that, will the existence of the serpents end? He also expressed concern over that if the existence of the serpents ends, then the balance of creation will deteriorate.

Then Brahmadev said that the existence of all the serpents will not end, only the serpent will be consumed towards sin, some of them will also be protected. The gods asked who would protect this? Then Brahmadev told that Nagaraj Vasuki’s sister Jaratkaru will be married to the sage Jartaru named his name. The son of both of them will protect the Nag caste and will save them by closing the Nag Yajna. Saying this to the gods, Brahmaji went to Brahmaji and due to being in the mother’s lap, I also heard all these things. Ellapatra Nag said- O elder brother, Nagraj Vasuki! So now you can protect us.

Ugrashrava ji said- sages! Hearing all this, Nagaraj Vasuki started following his sister with fervor and from the same day on his orders, the search for the sage Jartaru was started. On asking Shaunak Rishi, Ugrashrava ji also told the meaning of Jarkaru. Karu means Hatta-Kata, Jar means weakening. The sage had made his Hatte-Katta body very dilapidated and weakened by penance, so he was called Jartaru. Similarly, when Nagraj Vasuki’s sister was also born, she was healthy, but in childhood she used to cry and was very angry. Vasuki used to say, it weeps and weakens herself. In this way, the name of that girl was also done.

On the other hand, Nagaraj Vasuki sent the serpents in search of sage Jaratkaru. The sage Jartaru was a visiting sage and he did not stay at the same place the next day. Many times he used to do penance and used to absorb himself so much in meditation that he used to forget the real world. Therefore, he did not even marry.

One day the sage Zartaru was passing through a forest, He noticed that some five old creatures are hanging in reverse in a well and they have caught a straw of dry grass to protect themselves. This grass was also scrapped by a rat root. Seeing this, the sage Zartakaru was filled with compassion and went to those elders and asked for how to protect them from this situation. Those old men said- O sage, we are the ancestors of Jartaru. Our hanging here is a symbol of hanging upside down at the door of hell. This is the only grass straw of grass, but this rat, which is getting rid of this grass from the root, is telling how Kaal wants to eat only our only dynasty bell and then we will definitely fall into this hell follicle.

Our virtue is not so much that we can get salvation and after the recruitment, there will be no one who can satisfy us with tarpan. When Jartaru heard this, he became more different and introduced himself and said- Old fathers! I am the only one and I am the last line of your dynasty bell. Now I understood that my penance will not be complete without your liberation, so I am ready for marriage.

But, I also have a condition. I will marry my own girl named, secondly that I will not go anywhere to go on to talk about marriage. Whoever donates me with the desire of marriage, will marry me. My children will be born from him, but I will not always be responsible for their maintenance. If you are accessible with all these things, then I will get married, otherwise I will not do it.

With this resolve, the sage Jartaru roamed throughout the earth, but he did not find such a girl. In this way, he came into the forest desperately and started repenting. One day he said in the solitude of the forest- listen to all the creatures, I want to produce children for the liberation of my fathers, so I want a wife. Someone give me your girl. He said three times- during this time, Nag Vasuki’s investigative detectives reached there and heard this announcement of Rishi Zartakaru.

Hearing all these things from the detective serpents, Nagaraj Vasuki decorated his sister Jarkaru with jewelery and walked towards the forest. There he wanted to donate his sister to the sage, but the sage Jartaru was not immediately ready for it. Then Nagraj Vasuki said- O sage! The name of this girl is similar to your name. You marry with it. I will continue to maintain it. This relationship was fixed by the creator himself. Jartaru said- Your point is fine, but on the day your girl did not work according to me, I will abandon it on that day. Then he said- I did not really want to get married and the reason for this is that I have chosen the path of penance by taking a fast not to stay in the same place for more than a single day, but I have to marry for obeying the orders of my ancestors. That’s why I am telling you like the renunciation of the girl.

Nagraj Vasuki accepted all the conditions of the sage Jarkaru and got his sister married to him. After the marriage, the new couple started living together. Vasuki’s sister was strongly playing this relationship. During this time she became pregnant. Nagaraj Vasuki’s hope was about to be fulfilled, but in the meantime an incident happened. One day Jartaru kept sleeping at the time of Sandhya Vandan and wife Zartaru did not raise him because he might have been tired, he would get up in a while.

When the sage Jartakaru started getting late to get up, the wife tried to pick him up and asked him for Sandhya Vandan. The sage got up and said in great anger- Goddess! You have done unfavorable work to my mind, there is not enough power in the sun that I keep sleeping and it is set. You have insulted my penance practice, so now I will go from here. In this way, the sage Jartarku had been waiting for the opportunity for many days, he had taken it out today. In this way he left the householder ashram. Before leaving, he said- This child will be a scholar in your womb. Its sharp fire will be like fire and it will be proficient in Ved-Vedang.

When Nag Kanya Zartakaru told all these things to his brother Vasuki, he was sad, but he already knew the situation of Kaal, so he explained to his heartbreaking sister. When the time came, Jartaru gave birth to a sharp child. He started growing up in Vasuki’s building. The child studied the Vedas from Rishi Chyavan and he was named Aastiq, who became famous as ‘Muni Aastiq’ in his childhood. Seeing this meritorious child, Nag did not bloom and Nagraj Vasuki used to have special love on him, in the coming days the same child was going to be the protector of his offspring.
