The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has busted an interstate drug syndicate. In this action, four smugglers have been arrested, seizing 411 kg of hemp worth about 2 crore rupees. Three of them were caught from Delhi in Delhi and a supplier from Odisha. The police is now trying to reach the bottom of the network by investigating the call details, bank transactions and logistic trails of the accused.
A police officer said that the arrested accused have been identified as Lokesh Bhardwaj (27), Ashish Khasa alias Ashu (20) and Moin Khan (24). The Crime Branch had received secret information about the activities of this syndicate, on the basis of which a team was formed. The team laid a trap in Sector-19 area of Dwarka. Then the police saw that suspicious goods were being shifted from a truck to the car.
When the police reached the spot, the hemp was recovered during the investigation. At the same time, three people were present, who were immediately taken into custody. During interrogation, the accused said that Ganja was brought from Odisha to Delhi. Based on this input, the police team was sent to Odisha on 10 July, from where drug supplier Srikanth Prasad (33) was arrested. He is a native of Bihar. Earlier, he has been involved in drug trafficking.
The police also came to know that Srikanth used to supply ganja from Odisha to Delhi, Haryana and other states. Arrested accused Lokesh and Ashish are residents of Maheshwari village in Rewari district of Haryana. During interrogation, he admitted that he landed in this business in the greed to earn money early. Moin Khan is a resident of Nuh, who used to deliver drug consignments through rented trucks.
The most special thing about this network was that each consignment was sent through different transport mediums and drivers, so that trekking could be avoided. The police is investigating the entire supply chain of the syndicate. Officials believe that gang wires can connect with many states including Delhi, Haryana, Bihar and Odisha. It is being feared that the accused have brought such consignment to Delhi many times before.
