Scorching victim was taken by plane to Delhi in Odisha

A 15 -year -old girl, who was on fire by three miscreants in Puri district of Odisha, was taken from the All India Institute of Medical Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhunaveshwar to Delhi on Sunday, by the officials, officials gave this information.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that he is very sad due to the incident in Balga area of Puri district on Saturday (July 19, 2025). Majhi wrote on ‘X’, ‘The victim has been taken by aircraft to AIIMS in Delhi for the best treatment. The state government will ensure all the necessary facilities for this. I pray to Lord Jagannath for the girl to get well soon.

Police force deployed with ambulance

Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner (DCP) Jagmohan Meena told reporters that a green corridor was built to take the patient from AIIMS Bhubaneswar to Biju Patnaik International Airport and a platoon of the police force was deployed.

Bhubaneswar Traffic DCP Tapan Kumar Mohanty said that the ambulance reached the airport in 10 to 12 minutes with the patient from AIIMS Bhubaneswar. He said that he was taken to an ambulance equipped with advanced equipment with a particular medical team.

Minor girl burnt up to 70 percent

In the context of healthcare, the green corridor means removing vehicles and other inhibitors from the path of ambulance carrying organs for transplantation or seriously sick patients, so that this ambulance can reach its destination at least time.

He said that after reaching the airport, the victim was taken to the national capital by an air ambulance and now AIIMS will be admitted to Delhi. Sanjay Giri, head of the ‘Burn Center’ department of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, had said that the minor girl was scorched up to 70 percent and was being given oxygen in a artificial manner.

Protest of Biju Janata Dal leaders before the police station

Ashutosh Biswas, executive director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, told reporters, ‘The patient’s condition is stable and his blood pressure, which was low yesterday, has now improved. It is safe to transfer it to the hospital. Meanwhile, the leaders and supporters of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) protested before the Balga police station and demanded immediate arrest of the accused involved in the incident.

The BJD workers marched to the police station with party flags, posters and banners and tried to surround the building, where they were shocked with policemen. BJD leader and former minister Tukuni Sahu said, “This barbaric incident has passed over 24 hours, but the culprits have not been arrested yet.”

Accused still away from police grip

Tukuni Sahu alleged that incidents of violence against girls in Odisha are taking place one after the other, as the government has failed to protect them. BJD leader Pradeep Kumar Majhi said, ‘We went to the police station to find out those who tried to kill the girl by setting fire. The police still knows nothing about the accused.

Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Srikanth Jena said, ‘One incident after another in Balasore and then Puri’s Balga area shows that law and order in the state has completely collapsed. Women and girls are not safe anywhere in the state.

Police registered a statement when the victim comes to consciousness

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sameer Ranjan Das said that the police is investigating the incident. He said, ‘We hope that the accused will be arrested soon.’ An official said that after the victim came in a position to speak on Saturday, the police recorded her statement in the presence of a magistrate at the ICU of AIIMS Bhubaneswar. He said that his statement is important for investigation.

A police official said that preliminary investigation has revealed that three unidentified youths riding on a motorcycle stopped the girl, forcibly taken her to the banks of the Bhargavi river and set her on fire by spraying flammable substances.

The crooks escaped from the spot

Police said that after setting the girl on fire, the crooks escaped from the spot. Local people extinguished the fire and took him to Pipili Government Hospital, from where he was sent to AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The girl’s mother has lodged an FIR in Balga police station.

Officials said that the victim had quit his studies in class VIII and her father works in a motor garage. An official said that the police have detained some people and are questioning them regarding the case.
