YSRCP Lok Sabha member PV Midhun Reddy, arrested in the alleged liquor scam case of Andhra Pradesh, was sent to judicial custody by August 1 on Sunday (July 20, 2025). A police official said that Reddy was produced in the Anti -Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada on Sunday (July 20).
At the same time, YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy condemned the alleged liquor scam case on Sunday (July 20) and told it a fabricated story for the media. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested Reddy on Saturday (July 19) in the alleged Rs 3,500 crore liquor scam during the previous YSRCP government. Earlier, on the morning of Sunday (July 20), SIT officer Midhun Reddy was taken to a government hospital in Vijayawada, where doctors conducted a medical examination.

The police officer told PTI-language, “The medical team did not get any health-related complexity, so he was produced in court according to the legal protocol.” The SIT, who was investigating the alleged liquor scam, questioned Reddy for several hours on Saturday (19 July) and then arrested him in Vijayawada at around 7.30 pm. Reddy represents the Rajampet constituency of Andhra Pradesh.

YSRCP leaders described this arrest as targeting opposition voices. Party sources told PTI-Bhasha, “We have resolved to firmly combat it, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led NDA government is targeting opposition voices wrongly.”
Former Chief Minister tweeted about Midhun Reddy’s arrest
Meanwhile, YSRCP chief and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy condemned the arrest of Midhun Reddy. Jagan Mohan Reddy said in a post on X, “This is nothing but a political conspiracy to silence the people standing with the public.”
Jagan said that the case is allegedly based on forced confession through pressure, threats, torture, bribery and temptation. He condemned the arrest of Midhun Reddy and said that it is inspired by politics.
He said in his post on X, “The alleged liquor scam is nothing but a fabricated story, which is fully created to divert media’s dramaticness and real issues.”
