Ajit Pawar -led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) activists beat up the workers of Chhawa organization on Sunday. Activists of the Chhava organization pushed the Maharashtra unit president Sunil Tatkare during a press conference in Latur and threw cards in front of him.
The workers of the Chhava organization were opposing the state’s Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate, as a video showing him allegedly playing Rami on his mobile phone went viral during the recently concluded state legislature.
After sharing a video clip of Cocate by NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar, Cocate made it clear that he was just skipping a downloaded game shining on the screen of his mobile phone in the Legislative Council.
Vijay Ghatge, the leader of the Chhawa organization on TV channels, is seen throwing a step of cards on his table, demanding the resignation of Cocate. After some time, NCP workers rained kick and punches on the Ghatge and others, after which the police intervened and separated them.

Suraj Chavan, president of NCP Yuva Wing, who was involved in the attack, alleged that the incident occurred due to Ghatge and other officials using abusive language against NCP leaders. He told reporters, “We lost our temper and took this step. Just because we are in power, it does not mean that we are doing something wrong.”
Chavan said that the protesters threw cards on the split. They could perform constitutionally.
Chhava organization works for the conservation of forts and organizes various religious and cultural festivals.
Reacting to the incident, NCP (SP) leader Rohini Khadse said that such violence is unprecedented in a progressive state like Maharashtra. NCP (SP) national spokesperson Clyde Cresto alleged that Maharashtra was turning into an Akhara of MMA (mixed martial arts) under BJP rule.
