AI Could Take Over 84 percent Government Jobs Says Study

Now almost every person in the world is aware of Artificial Intelligence (AI). As its name suggests, it is artificial intelligence that has an understanding of its own, but it works under programming. A shocking report has come out regarding Artificial Intelligence which says that AI can eat away about 84 percent of government jobs! Let us know what this report says.

A research has been done by The Alan Turing Institute. This research has been done in UK. Where the institute studied about 201 such services of the government in which information is exchanged between the government and citizens. Report According to , researchers found that these services are such that even if there is no human intervention in them, there will be no difference. That means these services can also be handed over to AI. For example, services like passport processing and voting registration etc. have the potential to be run in automated mode as well.

The study says AI reduced transaction time by every minute, saving thousands of hours of human staff time. Also, with the advent of automation, officials can be freed from the never-ending bureaucracy and can spend more time in dealing with the public.

Dr Jonathan Bright, head of AI for public services and online security at The Alan Turing Institute, said AI has huge potential to help governments become more responsive, efficient and fair. If AI saves even 1 minute per transaction, this will translate into thousands of hours of time saved over the year. But it has also been said that if a responsible and accurate automation is to be implemented with AI, then a lot of hard work will have to be done with AI. But this time that will be devoted to AI will bring double benefits in future.

The research conducted in the study regarding the functioning of the UK government found that all those services in government services can be automated which makes about 143 million transactions. And these transactions repeat. That means the transaction is repeated again and again. In such a situation, if automation is implemented on the service, human intervention for transactions can be eliminated.

In January, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Chief Kristalina Georgieva had said that AI is going to pose a big risk to job security around the world. But there are also immense opportunities to increase productivity and boost global growth. Georgieva had said that AI could affect 60 percent of jobs worldwide.
