Test teams will be divided into 2 groups with 2 tier systems.
The World Test Championship (WTC) 2027 from 2027 may apply in Test cricket. For this, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has formed an 8 -member team in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday. This committee is being chaired by the new CEO of ICC, Sanjog Gupta.
In the Test Tier system, two divisions of 6-6 teams will be made instead of existing 9 teams. England Cricket Board and Cricket Australia have already been in support of this format and want Australia, England and India to fight twice every three years, which is more than twice in the current four years.
The Champions League T20 to be played between 2009 and 2014 may resume next year.
Why are it implemented now?
Last year, the 5-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy played between Australia and India saw a huge crowd. Apart from fans, a large number of fans on broadcasting and live streaming also joined this series. BGT is the fourth most viewed series in Australia so far. Fans have seen more than 8 lakh matches of this series.

Champions League T20 may return
After about 10 years, the Champions League T20 (CLT20) tournament may return once again. The ICC is seriously considering to resume this international club based T20 competition.
Cricket boards of India, Australia and England have discussed this about this and this proposal has also been supported from several important member countries in the AGM. The last time the tournament took place in India in 2014, where Chennai Super Kings won the title by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.
6 seasons of CLT20 were held between 2009 and 2014. Four in India and two in South Africa. Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians won the tournament twice, while Australia’s New South Wales and Sydney Sixers won once.
The Champions League 2014 final was won by Chennai Super Kings.
England hosted the next 3 finals of WTC
Earlier on Sunday, ICC hosted England the next 3 finals of the World Test Championship. England will host the WTC final to be held in 2027, 2029 and 2031. This host was given to the English Board in view of the last 3 successful events.

- Gurumurthy Palani of France Cricket Association, Anurag Bhatnagar of Hong Kong and Gurdeep Clair of Canada were made representatives of the ICC Chief Executive Committee (CEC) Associate Members countries.
- Teamor Lest and Jambia countries were made part of Associate Members by the ICC. Now there are 110 registered countries in the ICC.
Supported women cricketers of Afghan origin
The ICC has launched the program in association with BCCI, ECB and Cricket Australia to support women cricketers of Afghan origin. Which will run under the supervision of Deputy Chair Imran Khwaja. These will include high performance training, playing domestic cricket opportunities and partnership in 2 big tournaments.
