An encounter took place between police and crooks in Mohali district, in which about five rounds of firing took place. In this action, the police arrested Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, a resident of Mandi Gobindgarh, Fatehgarh Sahib, in an injured condition.

The relationship of the accused is said to be associated with the banned terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). SP (D) Saurabh Jindal said that on July 10, a property dealer was called for ransom in the Aerocity area of Mohali and firing outside his office was also fired. Several teams including CIA were formed on the instructions of SSP Mohali to investigate the case.

During the investigation, the police arrested three BKI members yesterday. During interrogation, all three revealed the name of Gurpreet Gopi. In this episode, when the police reached to catch Gurpreet today, he was riding on the bike and fired on the police.
Police fired in retaliation, in which he was shot in his leg. After this he fell from the bike and the police caught him on the spot. The accused has been admitted to the hospital. Till now four members of this gang have been arrested.
It has come to light during interrogation that these accused were working at the behest of gangster Rinda hidden in Pakistan. His name has also been revealed in grenade attacks on police stations and other government buildings, although Gurpreet Gopi’s role is still being investigated.

Gurpreet Singh Gopi has already filed four criminal cases, including ransom and firing incidents. He has already served the jail sentence earlier. Police say that there may be more important revelations during interrogation.
