The engineer played for Lancashere for almost a decade, while former West Indies captain Lord lived with the club for nearly two decades and made a valuable contribution to the history of the club.
Interestingly, the engineer played most of his cricket at Brabourne Stadium but there is no stand in his name. The engineer told the club website a few years ago:
That was an incredible time and Old Trafford was a great place. People used to come from miles away to see us playing. From the dressing room of Old Trafford, we could see Warvik Road railway station and before the match we used to see packed trains taking passengers on the platform. We could listen to people raising slogans, talking and laughing.
The engineer also remembers the letter received from fans in his golden days. He said:
It was fantastic, our locker was filled with the urges of autographs and invitations of parties. Everyone in England was talking about the great team that had names like Clive Lloyd, Harry Pilling, Peter Lever and Ken Shuttleworth.
After retiring, the engineer made Manchester his home and remains here till date. Former Indian captain Dilip Vengsarkar, who is on a private tour here, is also expected to attend the ceremony with senior club officials.
