New Delhi. Karun Nair, who returned to international cricket after 8 years from the Test series being played against England, has been average so far. India’s legendary spinner Harbhajan Singh, while supporting Karun Nair, has demanded the team management to give him a proper chance and a long time. They want Shubman Gill and KL Rahul to be expressed on Karun.

Harbhajan said that every player should get a proper opportunity. Karun Nair should also be given a long time like Shubman and Rahul. Harbhajan said on his YouTube channel, “Karun has not scored runs, but you have given them a chance, so keep them for some time. All the players should get the right opportunity. Karun now has the right to it. Shubman Gill and KL Rahul also got the right to it earlier.”

It was not easy for Karun to return to the Indian Test team. He had to wait for eight years. He was called back after a spectacular performance in the domestic season of 2024-25. He scored 863 runs in nine Ranji Trophy matches for Vidarbha at an average of around 54. It also included a century in the final against Kerala. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he scored 779 runs in eight innings, including five centuries and the average was 389.50.

Harbhajan believed that it was not appropriate to give Sai Sudarshan only one chance, but now when Karun has got three opportunities, the management should remain with him. He further said, “The criteria should be the same for all. If others get five or six opportunities, what crime has Karun committed? I think it was not appropriate to give Sai Sudarshan only one chance, but now that you have retained Karun till now, he should also play here.”
