A big update has come out about the special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign released in Bihar. It is being told that the names of 51 lakh voters across the state will be removed from the voter list. In the survey, 18 lakh voters have been found dead and 26 lakh were permanently transferred, about 7.5 lakh voters have been found registered in many places.
The commission says that 18 lakh voters have been found dead during the investigation, whose names were included in the voter list. In the investigation, 26 lakh such voters have been identified who have gone outside Bihar or in other assembly constituencies. Apart from this, 7 lakh people have got votes done in two places, which is clearly a violation of the rules. For these reasons, the names of 51 lakh voters can be removed from the voter list, so that only eligible voters are included in the list.
The Commission said that during the survey conducted from house to house till July 21, 2025, no information has been received about 11,000 voters.
97.30% voters are filled forms: Commission
The Election Commission said that out of 7.89 crore registered voters in Bihar, 97.30% have submitted their enumeration forms so far. These forms are required to join the initial voter list to be published on 1 August 2025. Only 2.70% of the voters have not yet submitted the forms. The Commission has made wide efforts to make this process transparent and inclusive, including more than 98,500 booth level officers (BLO) and 1.5 lakh booth level agents (BLA).
Final list will be released on 30 September
The Election Commission has taken several steps to ensure that no voter is left out of SIR. The list of voters whose names have been marked as dead, transferred or double registration have been shared with political parties and their booth level agents. This step has been taken to confirm the status of these voters by 25 July.
Apart from this, after the preliminary voter list is revealed on August 1, it will be given time to register claims and objections by 1 September. After this, the final voter list will be published on 30 September 2025.
