In Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday evening, GRP and RPF personnel arrested a person traveling with a cash of Rs 29.67 lakh in Gurmukhi Express train. Officials have given this information. He said that Mafizul Sheikh, a resident of Birbhum district of West Bengal, was arrested at DDU Junction when he could not show any valid documents related to cash in a huge amount of cash.

GRP police station in -charge of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay railway station Sunil Singh said that he had received information that a large amount of money is being taken from Gurmukhi Express to West Bengal. He told that after this he started special monitoring at the station with RPF and as soon as the train reached the platform, the team started searching. During this time, a young man traveling in the general bogie of the train was found suspicious. Singh said that after searching him, the authorities got a bundle of notes of Rs 29.67 lakh from his bag.

During interrogation, Sheikh told the officials that he had boarded the train from Moradabad and was taking the money to West Bengal. Singh said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the money recovered from the youth is part of the hawala transaction. It has been handed over to the Income Tax Department and further investigation is on.
