External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday dismissed all the speculation during the discussion on Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, stating that US President Donald Trump played a role in the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
Jaishankar said, “There was no conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump between June 17 (date of the declaration of ceasefire) from the Pahalgam terrorist attack),” Let me tell you that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was announced on May 10, when the DGMO of Pakistan contacted its Indian counterpart on the hotline and pleaded for this.

Foreign Minister Jaishankar’s remarks came after the repeated claims made by Trump- that he threatened to stop the trade to conduct a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Let us know that after the exact missile attacks on terrorist bases by the Indian Army in Pakistan and its occupied Kashmir, military conflict between the two countries increased.
India has rejected the claims made on various occasions of Donald Trump firmly and repeatedly, as well as rejected the proposals for any kind of ‘mediation’ about Jammu and Kashmir. India has clarified that only one issue will be discussed with Pakistan regarding Jammu and Sashmi, that is about the return of its occupied Kashmir.

India has also rejected Trump’s attempt to connect the ceasefire with Pakistan with the Indo-US trade agreement. The US leader said during his attempt to take credit that he told PM Modi and Pak officials, “Friends, let’s do not trade nuclear missiles … Let’s trade things that you make so beautifully.”
Jaishankar said that when US Vice President JD Vance spoke to PM Modi on the phone, he was with him. The Foreign Minister said that even then, as far as India is concerned, there was no talks about business and ceasefire. He said that India will not tolerate terrorist activity on its land and has every right to protect its citizens.
