Unknown miscreants set fire to a upper primary school building in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Police said that nursery, class 1 and class 2 classes used to run in that school building in Lipu Bagra village. That building was completely gutted in the fire.
Police said on Monday that the incident took place near the district headquarters Alo on Sunday. Western Siang Superintendent of Police (SP) Kardak Reeba told PTI that the incident of fire was immersed in mystery. There was no eyewitness and no call was made to the fire brigade center at Alo. Even a teacher living near the school was not aware of the incident.
The police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the Code of India (BNS) and the Public Property Damage Prevention (PDPP) Act and are investigating the case on the basis of technical evidence.
Alo West MLA Topin Ete has expressed deep grief over the incident and condemned it. He said in a statement, ‘I am very distressed by the unfortunate incident in Lipu Bagra, where the miscreants set the upper primary school on fire at midnight. Although I am out of the city at this time due to unavoidable official duties, I am still in constant contact with the district administration.
The BJP MLA said that he has instructed the officials to take immediate relief measures and have directed the DDSE to make alternative arrangements to continue the education of the students without any interruption.
The police is now investigating the matter.
