Delhi Police used the word Bangladeshi language in a government letter written to Bangla Bhavan on 29 July. It wrote, ‘8 Bangladeshi citizens living illegally in India have been arrested. Documents recovered from them are in Bangladeshi language. In such a situation, it is necessary to translate them in Hindi and English for further investigation.

Questioning this, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee said- Delhi Police has called the bungalow in a government letter Bangladeshi language. This is not a small mistake. This is a well-planned conspiracy to defame the BJP, weaken our cultural identity and to take political advantage by connecting West Bengal to Bangladesh.

Abhishek further wrote- This is a violation of Article 343 and 8th Schedule of the Constitution. There is no language called ‘Bangladeshi’. To call a bungalow a foreign language is not just an insult> but it is an attack on our identity, culture and belonging. Bengali is not an outsider in its own country.
