The body of a 63 -year -old elderly man was found hanging in the house on Sunday (August 3, 2025) in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. The family of the deceased claimed that the deceased were scared that if the National Citizen Register (NRC) was implemented, they would be sent to Bangladesh.
A police officer in the case said, “Initial investigation has revealed that the deceased Dilip Kumar Saha came to Kolkata from Nawabganj in Dhaka in 1972 and was living in Anandapalli west of Regent Park area. Saha worked as a non-teaching employee at a private school in Dhakuria, South Kolkata. Today, the wife of Saha (3 August) gave him a number of voice, but he did not get any voice from his closed room. When he broke the door from the neighborhood house, he found Saha hanging from the fan. “
Was under stress for a long time- the wife of the deceased
Aarti Saha, wife of the deceased, said, “Her husband was worried that she would be sent to Bangladesh after the NRC was implemented.” He said, “He was under a lot of stress for some time. There was no more tension.
The police officer said, “There is suspicion that due to this fear he committed suicide. Apart from this, a suicide note has been recovered from the room. The case is currently being investigated.”

Energy Minister and local Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Arup Biswas reached the spot and spoke to family members. Biswas said, “The fear of getting out of the country can also force a person to take such a step. What he has started in the name of special intensive revision (SIR) of the (center) voter list reflects his anti -people attitude and the result is in front of you. “
