Assembly elections are expected for 126 seats in Assam for 126 seats next year in March-April.

Assam Congress President Gaurav Gogoi said on Sunday that if the government of the opposition party is formed in the state next year, then all the land occupied by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his ministers will be distributed among the poor.

Following the extended executive meeting of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Gogoi claimed in a press conference that the people of the state were fed up with the government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma.

He announced that the Congress would implement improvement in both land and economic policies to help people.

Gogoi said- CM Sarma will be behind bars

Gaurav said that in the name of protecting land rights, the Chief Minister and his associates would distribute the illegally occupied land, the new Congress government’s first cabinet meeting will be distributed among the poor through the decision taken in the first cabinet meeting.

He said that it is his duty to fulfill this announcement made by the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi that the people of Assam will see Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma behind bars.

Gogoi accused the BJP government of committing injustice to linguistic and religious minorities and conducting eviction campaigns against Bodo, Tiwa, Karbi, Rabh, Missing and other communities under the guise of development.

Former Congress Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora said that CM, his wife, family and his close ones have acquired heavy assets. They are now running a eviction campaign everywhere to distract the attention of the people from real issues.

Congress claims- 50 thousand debt on every child

All India Congress Committee General Secretary Assam in -charge Jitendra Singh said that people of Assam now want change through elections. They are craving to get rid of the misrule of Himant Biswa Sarma, which has become synonymous with dictatorship and corruption. Today, not only in Assam, but all over the country, every citizen, including children and women, has a loan of 50,000 per person.

He further said, “People are demanding change to overcome the country from this unstable economic situation and in Assam, the Congress is preparing to defeat Himant Biswa Sarma in 2026 under the leadership of Gaurav Gogoi and preparing to form the next government.”

Congress will start election campaign from September

It was decided in the extended executive meeting that from September, the Congress will intensify its organizational activities and will launch several campaigns against the BJP’s corruption. Congress MP Principal Bordoloi said, “Assam is burdened with heavy debt. The BJP government has started dozens of schemes only to get votes in elections. Many schemes that directly benefit the bank accounts are not helping to increase the income of the beneficiaries.”
