The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday (3 August 2025) claimed that the residents of West Bengal working in other states are being denied their livelihood on behalf of illegal Bangladeshi migrants and in some cases.
BJP’s state unit president Samik Bhattacharya said that there is no need to worry to worry about Indian Muslims and Hindus who come to the country due to oppression from Bangladesh, as long as the BJP is here. He also alleged that the ruling Trinamool Congress is afraid that if the special intensive revision of the voter list in Bengal, the Election Commission will identify fake voters.
The BJP leader said at a press conference here, “The livelihood of the actual Indian citizens of Bengal working in other states is being snatched by Rohingya in illegal Bangladeshi migrants and some cases.” Samik Bhattacharya said that illegal voters in West Bengal will also be identified in the same way as during the special intensive revision of the voter list in Bihar.
He said, ‘So much fear has arisen due to the signs of being SIR in Bengal, so imagine what will happen when this exercise will happen.’ The BJP leader said that the biggest problem in front of West Bengal is the spread of ‘fundamentalism’. He said that in recent months, political upheaval in Bangladesh has also affected some border districts of West Bengal.
Samik Bhattacharya said that the central government has said that some banned organizations are becoming active in the country, of which a district of North Bengal is the focal point. He claimed, “This is definitely dangerous for the internal security of our country and it is being compromised in the state.”
He said that on this issue raised by the central government, many BJP ruled and non-BJP ruled states have started investigating the identity of migrant workers of West Bengal. The BJP leader said, “Those caught during such investigation have admitted to being Bangladeshi and making fake identity cards here.”
In the context of the ‘Language of Bangladesh’, the BJP leader justified the action of the Delhi Police, said that there is a clear difference between the Bangla language and the language of Bangladesh written in West Bengal and the language of Bangladesh.
The Trinamool Congress on Sunday posted a letter on its ‘X’ handle, which claimed that the officer in charge of a police station in New Delhi wrote a letter to ‘Bang Bhavan’ in the national capital, demanding the translator for ‘Bangladeshi National Language’ after the arrest of eight people. These people are suspected to illegally enter India from the neighboring country.
Bhattacharya alleged that BJP workers are being attacked by the ruling Trinamool Congress and they are being harassed by the state police. He said, ‘These are no sporadic incidents. These are happening in different parts of West Bengal.
He alleged that TMC workers are also being attacked and there are incidents of murder within the party due to factional clashes. He claimed, “Many of these aggrieved families have demanded a CBI probe into such incidents in their initial reactions as they do not trust the current government of the state.”
Trinamool Congress MP from Bardhaman-Durgapur, Kirti Azad had recently demanded an inquiry into the central agencies of alleged illegal mining. Pointing to his statement, Bhattacharya said that the former Indian cricketers have not been able to completely eliminate the ‘DNA of BJP’ within them. Kirti Azad was in BJP before coming to Trinamool.
Bhattacharya said, ‘He (Azad) had demanded an inquiry from the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) on July 23 but on August 2, he withdrew his demand. ” Bhattacharya said that the BJP is taking the demand for CBI and ED investigation seriously. He said that the party MP will meet Union Mining Minister Kishan Reddy on Monday and urge him to take appropriate steps.
