Congress MP Sudha Ramakrishnan became a victim of snatching on Monday (4 August 2025) in the high security Chanakyapuri area of Delhi. The incident with the Congress MP took place during the morning walk in the morning, causing sensation. Regarding this, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi said that this kind of incident in such safe areas is amazing.

Sudha Ramakrishnan, MP from Mayiladuturai, Tamil Nadu, has written a letter to the Union Home Ministry about the incident. He said, “I felt that this is the area of the embassy and the security there is quite shocking, so I came out on the morning walk.” Police said that Sudha Ramakrishnan, who was living in Tamil Nadu Bhavan, had left for a morning walk when unknown people snatched his gold chain and escaped from the spot.

Congress MP Sudha Ramakrishnan said, “She had gone on a morning walk with another MP. A man had a scooty wearing a helmet near the Poland Embassy Gate-3 and Gate-4. He took a gold chain. The accused came from the opposite direction, due to which he did not suspect it.” There were some marks on his neck. Security has been increased in Tamil Nadu Bhavan and surrounding areas.

Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi said, “Where Sudha Ramakrishnan was walking is the area of the embassy and usually this place is quite safe. Unfortunately when she reached the police vehicle, she did not respond much. If this happened to an MP, ordinary women also have to go through these things. Especially cities like Delhi should have such a vigilance.
Police have gathered in the investigation of the accused and investigating the nearby CCTV footage. In her letter Sudha Ramakrishnan, she told that she has been living in Tamil Nadu House (Room No. 301) in New Delhi for the last one year, as she has not yet received the official residence. She regularly participates in parliamentary proceedings and committee meetings.
