Delhi Assembly Election 2025: The Election Commission on Tuesday (January 7, 2025) announced the dates of Delhi Assembly elections and by-elections to be held on one seat each in UP and Tamil Nadu. Questions are being raised on EVMs by opposition parties for a long time. During the announcement of elections, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar responded to allegations of tampering and rigging of EVM machines in the elections.
During the announcement of the dates of Delhi Assembly elections, Rajiv Kumar, while replying to these allegations one by one, said, “During the assembly elections held last year, names of people were deleted from the voter list at some places and in some assembly 50 thousand voters were removed.” There were allegations of increasing it. Along with this, questions were also raised regarding EVMs that how the voting turnout increased after 5 pm.
‘EVM cannot be hacked in any way’
On these allegations, the Chief Election Commissioner said that I want to answer all these allegations. Rajeev Kumar said that EVMs cannot be hacked in any way. EVM is the safest method of elections. He also said that the seal of EVM is checked before counting. On the allegations of increase in voting turnout, he said that the complete voting percentage is released only on the next day of the elections. On the allegations of deletion of names of voters, he said that the entire procedure is followed in removing voters from the list. Everyone can get information about this. Rajeev Kumar said in a poetic style on all the allegations, “All questions are important, the answer is always there, habitually I kept giving written answers, even today we are face to face, who knows whether we will be there tomorrow or not, today there is an answer.” It is made.
‘Elections will be held in Delhi on this day’
Assembly elections will be held in Delhi on 5 February 2025 and counting of votes will take place on 8 February. Voting will be held in a single phase for all 70 assembly seats of Delhi. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that the level of election campaign should be maintained. The Election Commission has kept the voting day as Wednesday to increase the voting percentage in Delhi.
