The incident has come to light after hearing his petition against the betting app and famous celebrities who campaigned in the Supreme Court on 1 August 2025. Dr. Paul has alleged that unknown miscreants in Delhi tried to kill him and tried to abduct him. He has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to provide immediate investigation and security.
The Supreme Court on August 1, while hearing the PIL of Dr. Paul, sought answers from the Center and the states for a ban or regulation of betting app. The court considered this issue to be an important subject of public interest and said that the government will have to clarify the status of action on this. Dr. Paul claimed in the court that these apps are ruining the lives of millions of people and have caused more than 1,000 suicides in Telangana. He also accused the famous celebrities of promoting these illegal platforms. Justice Suryakant commented, “If the government banns one app, the next day the second app comes out with the same profile.”
Regarding the attack in Delhi yesterday, Dr. Paul said, ‘I have been on target since the Supreme Court hearing. Last night some miscreants tried to kidnap me in Delhi. This was a scary experience for me and my family. I immediately informed the local police. Delhi Police has started investigation in this case, but no arrests have been made so far. A senior police officer said on the condition of anonymity, ‘We are investigating CCTV footage and other evidence. Soon the culprits will be caught.
Dr. Paul appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah by tweeting, ‘@narendramodi Yes and @Amitshah Yes, please investigate the matter immediately and provide me protection. ‘ A spokesman for the Ministry of Home Affairs said, “We have received information about this incident, and appropriate steps are being taken.” This incident took place at a time when the debate on the misuse of the betting app in the country is intensifying. Experts believe that Dr. Paul’s petition and this attack has made the issue more serious.
