Security agencies have gathered evidence to find out the nationality of the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terror attack, including the documents released by the Government of Pakistan and other things including biometric data. Indian officials have informed on Monday (August 4, 2025) that the evidence found is confirmed that all three terrorists were citizens of Pakistan.
The three militants, who were identified as terrorists of the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (Let), were killed in an encounter with security forces in Dachigam forest on the outskirts of Srinagar on 28 July during Operation Mahadev. He was hiding in the Dachigam-Harwan forest area since the attack on April 22 in the Basaron Valley of Pahalgam.
Officials gathered evidence related to terrorists
Officials said that the evidence gathered revealed that there was no local person among these terrorists. He said that security agencies have collected strong evidence like Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) biometric records, voter identity slips and digital satellite phone data (call log and GPS vents), which confirms that all three terrorists were citizens of Pakistan.
Officials said that on the basis of interrogation of two youths from Kashmir, it was found that these terrorists were involved in the Pahalgam attack on the arms investigation and two youths of Kashmir. A senior official said, “For the first time we have found documents issued by the Pakistani government, which has no doubt about the nationality of Pahalgam attackers.”
Officials said, “It was clearly discovered from the forensic, documents and evidence gathered during Operation Mahadev and after that the three attackers were Pakistani citizens and senior members of Lashkar-e-Taiba. All three were hiding in Dachigam-Harwan forest area since the day of the attack.” He said, “No person from Kashmir was involved in the Pahalgam attack.”
These three terrorists were involved in Pahalgam terror attack
Officials said, “The slain terrorists have been identified as Suleman Shah aka Faizal Jatt. He was a ++ category terrorist and was the main gangster and main shooter of the Pahalgam attack. At the same time, the second attacker was identified as Abu Hamza alias Afghan, a close associate of Jatt, was a commander of A category. He is a commander of Yasi. Was a category commander.
He said that the security forces have recovered the documents issued by the Government of Pakistan from the pockets of Shah and Hamza along with weapons, including two voter slips issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Voter slip matches the voter list of Lahore and Gunjharanwala in Pakistan
According to officials, the number of these voter slips matches the voter list of Lahore (NA-125) and Gunjharanwala (NA-79). Officials said they recovered the smart-ID chip associated with Nadra from a satellite phone, which had fingers of the three terrorists, facial biometric profiles and family information. These records confirmed that their addresses were in Ghanga Manga (District Kasur) and Koiyan village near Rawalkot, in Pakistan -occupied Kashmir (POK). Officials said rappers of personal items manufactured in Pakistan such as Candeland and Chocomax Chocolate (brands manufactured in both Karachi) have also been seized.
Forensic and technical confirmation
The officer said about forensic and technical confirmation that the khoks found in Basaron were recovered from the three AK-103 rifles on July 28 and their friction marks were fully matched 100 percent. He said that apart from this, the mitochondrial DNA profiles taken from the blood on a torn shirt found in Pahalgam, fully match the DNA taken from the bodies of the three killed terrorists.
Terrorists lived in a dhok on 21 April
Officials said that the terrorists crossed the Line of Control in May 2022 via Gurez sector of North Kashmir. According to intelligence intercept, his ‘radio check-in’ was recorded from the Pakistani region at the same time.
During interrogation of two Kashmiri youths taken into custody, it was found that the terrorists came to a dhok (seasonal hut) in Hill Park on 21 April. It is two kilometers from Basaron Valley. Both these youths sheltered the terrorists overnight and also provided food. The next day, the terrorists went to Basaron Valley and carried out their attack there. He said that after the attack, the terrorists had fled towards Dachigam.
Officials spoke about the digital footprints of terrorists
On the basis of digital footprints, he said that the Satellite Phone (IMEI 86761204 -…), used by the terrorists, was in touch with Inmarsat-4F1 every night from 22 April to 25 July. Officials said that with the help of the facts, the search area was limited to a range of four square kilometers inside the Harwan forest.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police issued sketches of Hashim Musa, Ali Bhai alias Talha and local resident Adil Hussain Thakkar on 24 April. However, after the encounter on July 28, the security agencies clarified that the sketches were prepared on the basis of the photo found in a phone, which was associated with an encounter of December 2024. He told that the terrorists of Pahalgam attack were different.
Important evidence found in Pakistan’s involvement
Officials said, “Another important evidence of Pakistan’s involvement in the attack was the command and control link located inside Pakistan. Sajid Saifullah Jatt, a resident of Ghanga Manga in Lahore and head of South Kashmir operation of Lashkar-e-Taiba, had planned and carried out the attack as the samples of voice from the recovered satellite phone were planned to be done.”
Officials said, “Rawalkot chief Rizwan Anees of Lashkar-e-Taiba met the families of terrorists killed on July 29 and joined the disappearance Namaz-e-Janaja and the video has now become a part of the Indian document.”
