Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the meeting of the BJP -led NDA parliamentary party on Tuesday. Such a meeting of MPs of the ruling coalition is taking place after a long gap. This meeting of the NDA is being held a few days before the process of filing nomination for the Vice Presidential election on August 7. The NDA will have to announce its candidate by 21 August, whose election is considered to be certain due to the majority of the alliance in the electoral college.
Opposition to background and opposition of parliamentary session
The meeting is being held in the middle of such a session, in which almost the proceedings have been blocked so far and a two -day special discussion has been held on only Pahalgam attack and ‘Operation Sindoor’. Opposition parties are continuously demonstrating in both houses against the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar.
Political reference and role of prime minister
Prime Minister Modi can speak on many contemporary issues in the meeting. In this meeting, the parliamentary party can also honor the Prime Minister for the government’s military response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The electorate for the Vice Presidential elections consists of members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, and its current number is 782. If the opposition also declares the name of a candidate, which is a clear possibility, then the election is sure to be held on 9 September.
Participation of MPs and presence of allies
The BJP could not get an absolute majority in the result of the Lok Sabha elections held last year, but with the help of allies, it was easily successful in forming the government. Since then, members of allies also started being included in such a meeting of party MPs. Prime Minister Modi had earlier addressed such a meeting on July 2. However, no such meeting has been held in the last few sessions.
The purpose and dialogue of the Prime Minister’s meetings
Prior to the last Lok Sabha elections, he addressed the weekly meetings of the BJP Parliamentary Party, which now invites members of party allies like TDP, JD (U) and LJP (Ram Vilas). In this meeting, Prime Minister Modi often discusses political and administrative issues in detail and sometimes also talks about the government’s agenda in Parliament. He often gives MPs an opportunity to discuss issues to publicly, especially in their constituencies.
