Chhattisgarh liquor scam case: Bhupesh and Chaitanya Baghel’s petition did not listen to the Supreme Court, advised to go to High Court

Former Chief Minister of the state Bhupesh Baghel and his son Chaitanya did not get relief from the Supreme Court in the liquor scam case of Chhattisgarh. The Supreme Court asked both of them to go to Chhattisgarh High Court. The Supreme Court said that personal relief should be first demanded from the lower court or the High Court of the state. It is wrong to come directly to the Supreme Court.

Chaitanya Baghel was arrested in 2000 crore liquor syndicate scam

Chaitanya Baghel was arrested on 18 July in the liquor syndicate scam worth about 2 thousand crore rupees. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Bhupesh Baghel, opposed the continuation of the ED investigation. Sibal said, “What is happening in the country? The charge sheet has been filed in the case. Still investigation is on. The magistrate’s permission is not being taken before arresting. No one is being arrested arbitrarily.”

A bench of two judges did not listen to Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi

Despite the pleas of senior lawyers Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi, presented for both the petitioners, the Supreme Court refused to hear the case. The bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya said, “Whenever there is a case of an influential person, it comes directly to the Supreme Court. If they start listening to them, there will be no space for the common people in the Supreme Court.” After seeing the clear attitude of the court, both of them talked about filing a petition in the High Court.
